I listed my New Holland 450 Sickle Mower on Ebay last night. I have had many many requests today to stop the auction and sell it outright. I listed it on Ebay as I have no idea what it is worth. What do these things bring now adays?

Show me some pictures. 450's usually bring $1,000-2,000 if in top shape. A 451 is worth $500 more than a 450.

I've got an early 451. (several updates on the 451 as production went along) It's ALMOST the same as the 450. It's been an exceptionally good mower. I've owned it since 1971. I've been keeping my eyes open for a second mower. A good 450 or another 451 would fill the bill. I've seen 'em sell at auctions (450/early451's) in the neighborhood of $500 to $750. Really nice ones will bag around $1000. Dealers in this area generally ask $1000 to $1750 for 451's and $750 to $1500 for a nice 450.

Yours looks to be in decent shape from the photo. (Nothing bent or missing) It might take a set of gaurds and new sections to bring it into "top dollar" range.

I agree with FWJ, we see the same price range down here. Decent sickle mowers go pretty quick because they're easy to maintain and have low HP requirements. I use a NH 456 and I'm always watching for another one.

Those 456's are scarce around here! They're hot items for the guys with older tractors lacking 3-point hitch.

I started off mowing hay with my 451 back when I first bought the farm in '71. Plan was to go "modern" at some point with a mower/conditioner. Well.... That never happened. I'm STILL cutting hay with the 451. Poor old thing has a bunch of acres behind it by now ;)

I just had someone ask if the 450 will cut in the vertical position and I have no idea. I've never tried it like that. Does anyone here know?

In my case it's an older guy with a newer tractor who appreciates how easy they are to hook up and drop off.
