Hi can anyone tell me how much my TC24D will lift with the 12LA loader or by using by the attached 756 backhoe . I need to off load some concrete peices that weigh approx 800 lbs.
Thanks Terry

off loading without knowing the capabilities of your FEL may give you a scare. I off loaded a log two years ago from a timber crib only 30" off the ground. As soon as the full weight transfered to my FEL,my rear wheels promptly left the ground and load came quickly to the ground. Lauched me out my seat,NO Seat Belt, luckly landed back in the seat.

I would suggest that you attempt to LIFT the 800 lb object before you attempt to off load it to test the capability of your tractor,FEL,and weight set up. good luck.

Where you lift your concrete pieces will determine your success. I would not recommend using the loader without the BH attached as ballast. At the pins where the bucket attaches, you can lift over 1000 lb. At a distance of 19" out from the pins, your lift drops to 890 lb up to 39" high and 750 lb up to the full lift height of the loader. Here is a link with the loader specs. Scroll down the page to see the 12LA specs in the table.

I wholehearted agree that you should plan on some ballast on the back. I was lifting pretty full buckets of wet play sand, with no ballast on the rear end. Everything seemed good until I went down a very, very subtle grade on the driveway. The front end went down, the rears left the ground, my butt cheeks puckered and luckily I had my hand on the FEL control to slam the load down. http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif I put my brush hog on the rear and that provided enough counterbalance for that job.

800# IN the bucket may not be an issue, but if you have anything heavy to put on the back you should do it. And don't lift it very high.

As JINMAN points out the effective capacity of the loader is less the higher that it goes, probably due to the moment arm of the load trying to pivot the tractor abound the mid point (like the engine/trans).

And the lift capacity (and stability of the tractor) changes a lot the farther out that the load is from the inside of the bucket.

And as others have said elsewhere:

Remember the weight of the bucket(or forks). It is my impression that the capacities lifted do not include those items.

A technique I have used in the past when lifting near (or at) a loaders capacity is to move the truck/trailer out from under the FEL and then lower your load without moving the tractor. Also in general a FEL will out lift a BH. Bill C
