New Holland HST filter

For some reason my dealer chose to put a new holland hst filter on my mahindra tractor. I didn't notice it till I got the tractor home. Needless to say I removed it and put on the right filter from mahindra. Now I have a "used" filter with 2 minutes of use on it ( minute to drive tractor on flatbed and minute to drive off). It's part number 9846407. They charged me $31.12 for it. Have receipt. If someone is interested in it, please pm me. Thanks

Was it the same filter dimensionally? I have been using WIX filter's since my second or third engine oil change and have a hydraulic filter I'm going to install in a few more hours. I doubt that any tractor manufacturer actually makes oil filters, they just paint them to match. But, as long as you feel better I guess it's worth it.

9846407 is a plain hydraulic suction filter. It is not a hydrostatic filter for a NH compact. It fits many of the smaller, older 3 cylinder NH and Ford compacts. I'd not buy or sell a used filter, but suit yourself.

There was nothing really the same about the filters. The new holland was longer, wider, the internal hole patterns were different dimensions and the gasket was different. The only thing in common was the threading to screw it on. Evidently it may not even be a hst filter. Partspring lists it as a hydraulic filter.

You should've left it on. No one is going to buy a used hyd. filter. I'll bet it was the right application anyway. I'll also bet the NH filter is way better than a mahindra filter.

While your offer is well intentioned, I can't imagine anyone buying a used filter regardless of the hours on it. It's kinda like offering gum you only chewed once or twice. Still plenty of flavor left, but not all that appealing.

Bring it back to the Dealer--have them explain there mistake and get your money back.

Actually it has NH oil in it now.
