Tractor
Working on it
Pretty much decided on New Holland. My local dealer is right around the corner, been in business 50 years and seems like good people.

Still a little up in the air on which tractor. Sat on a Boomer 50 today because they didn't have a 35 or 40 on the lot. Really like the helm layout.

I am on the border between the Boomer 35 (smaller framed) or 40 (larger framed tractor with significantly better specs). These are the new LS built machines and based on some previous posts here I have concerns about these tractors. I just want a good reliable machine that will last many years. Somebody has to buy one of these tractors but I don't want to learn the hard way. Before buying I plan to ride and check them out. Dealer will get one in for me as an exchange.

Their specs look very good especially vs similar JD and Kubota machines. No offense to JD or Kubota but the dealership situation is much better for the NH dealer.

Should I stick with tried and true in a less capable tractor in the NH T1520??? I'd rather have a little too much tractor than a little too little and it seems everyone wants 5 or 10 more HP.

Tractor will be used to bushhog, till, move logs and keep a dirt road level on 5 to 7 open acres on 60 acres total (woods and cropland mix but not farmed by me).

I can't speak for the Boomer's. They sure look Neat.

But after 5 years and over 1300 hours, I still love my TD45DA. No real problems and it has worked hard. After the loader bucket, my favorite toy is the Back Hoe. it is rarely removed. BH has more uses than you can imagine. BH is something of a pain to remove & install, if no help it takes about 1/2 hour.

I believe that's a typo. You meant TC45DA, didn't you Mr. Crash?:)

BTW: I would encourage Radiater to look at any available 3040 or 3045 cab and uncabbed models if he can find them (also T2310s and T2320s). I'd also recommend he look at and drive a slightly used TC40DA/TC45DA or even a TC40D/TC45D model tractor. Look at features like pedal placement, number of ranges on the HST (and the rabbit/turtle feature of the Shibaura models), operator station layout, number of remotes that can be installed (three on the Shibaura models), and just general fit and finish. If you feel the LS models are good value, go for it. If they don't stack up in your estimation, then maybe a low-hour used tractor is in your future. A used tractor can sure save you lots of $$$, but may not be as easy to finance as a new tractor and will certainly not have a new warranty.

I woud say the LS models are too new to base a decision on. It is a limited trial with New Holland. Personally, I would opt for the tried and true units.

I purchased a NH Boomer 3045 with cab this winter and have about 50 hours on it now and am amazed at the work I get done with it. I have yet to use the bush hog but all the attachments work great, chipper, snowblower, backhoe, fel. I made up a trailer receiver for my fifth wheel trailer on a quick attach plate and moved my trailer around without a problem, 8000 lb dry weight, 1600 pound hitch weight. I bought the tractor to manage my property where we are to retire to in the next couple of years it is 35.5 acres with about eight to ten cleared. So far so good:thumbsup:

When the weather is cold you need to let it warm up awhile as the hydraulic fluid is also the tranny fluid.

Appreciate the tip on the 3040. I looked over the Boomer 50 fairly closely and liked the layout and features. Can't say I know how many remotes I can install and being new to tractors a lack of experience does limit my ability to find potential problems.

Mitsubishi has been making engines a long time.

At least on line Ive noticed that used tractors seem to hold their value very well. So financially new makes as much sense especially considering 3 years of warranty.

Got myself a Boomer 50 with HST last month. I like it a lot. It's my first tractor though, and I've only got about 5 hours on it so far, so I can't really comment on its long term reliability.

Appreciate the comments. Will be looking hard at a Boomer 35 tomorrow and will probably end up in the same boat as you.

Thought a lot about the 40/50 platform but that would mean larger implements which of course means money and the bleeding has to stop somewhere.....:confused2:

I have no doubt that the LS tractors are good even if I think the Shibaura Boomers were more refined. The folks in the LS Forum here on TBN seem to love their machines. What I am curious about is if you want an LS tractor, why don't you buy from an LS dealer instead of buying a NH version that may be orphaned? If NH elects to change suppliers again, will support for the LS machines be up to par? . . .anybody's guess. Will you have to seek support from an LS dealer? I just think if I were buying a new tractor and liked the LS models, I'd want to see if I could not find a better deal and long-term support in a dedicated LS dealer. Does this concern you at all? I'm sure your tractor has a lot of value and is a good machine. My question relates far more to marketing and support for the long haul. I guess the old phrase, "You pay your money and you take your chances," applies here.

I am not sure what the differences between the Boomer and LS is besides the loader. LS made tractors for Montana, Farmtrac and McCormick that are not orphaned even though those companies either no longer exist or don't sell the LS brand anymore because LS has it's own dealer network now. So, even if NH stops selling the LS made tractor it will not be orphaned unless LS stops selling tractors altogther.

Personally, if the price were close I'd get a NH LS made tractor because the NH dealer network is better, support is probably better and it'll have better resale.

As to the original posters question the Boomer made by LS models have Mitsubishi engines and a drive train made by a reputable company so I doubt there will be any major long term issues.
