Oil & Fuel New Holland 3930 air cleaner removal

Just bought a Ford/New Holland 1996, 3930 diesel. Going through everything and find I cannot remove the outer air cleaner element. I have the wing nut removed and the retaining washer. There is a little tab on the end of the outer element which looks like an aid to help pull the elemen straight out from the housing. It will not budge even with some serious pulling pressure. I don't think this element unscrews. Not sure what the next move is. Too late in the week to catch local dealer. Anyone run into this issue or am I missing a key part of the process? Some times the rubber seal can stick to the back side of the aircleaner housing. Give it twist or move it left to right and up and down.
I don't have the model you have but I've never seen what that unscrews. The long threaded rod and the wingnut/washer retainer holds them on and compresses the sealing rubber to make it leak free.

Jerry, That was the issue with a little twist. Apparently the previous owner hadn't changed it for one heck of a long time and I had to put a bar with holes in it across the face of the housing and then using the bar as a lifting platform, I shot a couple of self drilling sheet metal screws through the holes of the bar into the face of the filter. A couple of careful turns and the filter popped and I removed it. The issue was some rust (not much) had bonded the sealing surface of the outer filter to the back of the housing so much so that all the prying I did was not sufficient force to "pop" it loose. Haven't seen that one on any Fords I owned. I guess there is always a place for the "problem not yet seen". Thanks for the verification which gave me the courage to go the screw lifting route.

I changed the air filter on a Ford 8000 tractor one time. It had so much "experience" that I had to take the intake pipe off and shove the filter out from the backside with a crowbar!

I'll bet you seen a whole bunch stuff in a dealer's shop that nobody on a farm or ranch gets exposed to. Air cleaners get neglected quite I'm sure. I have seen some really nasty oil bath air cleaners that had to sit for weeks in a solvent bath to even begin to come clean.

i usually put some silicone lube grease on my filter rubber bases, after wiping out the filter canister housing.. my theory is it will help them seal better and be easier to remove.

theory for the first part.. tests out ok onthe 2nd part..
