New Holland 2120 Transmission Problem

I have a 1995 New Holland 2120 with a transmission problem. The tractor is stuck in a reverse gear. The clutch is working, but if I try to put the tractor in a forward gear, it stalls and dies. The gear selectors seem to work properly - I can work them through their range of motions. I can take it out of reverse and put it in neutral and it will idle, but I can't make it go forward. The tractor worked fine a couple of days ago when I drove it over to a neighbor's barn to store it (we had some snow yesterday). When I went over to retrieve it, I backed out OK and discovered I had no forward gears. Thanks for the advice.

What transmission do you have? No reverser, I assume? Did you disassemble the cowling around the shift levers to see if something is disengaged or broken? Sounds like a pin fell out of somewhere, but I'm no expert. Let us know.

I'm seen this on smaller stuff when a bearing goes bad the rearend. They will go backwards but when you tried to move forwards the rear end binds. Another then to check is the rear brakes. I've had drum linings seperate from the metal when you go in one direction it's fine but when you move in the other the shoes bind. It's kinda like how the starter works on a pull start.

My guess is that the brakes were set and are stuck. Try warming the tractor up some and see if it thaws out.

I had the same problem it is in the solenoid that controls reverse (on your right when on the seat.remove disassemble clean and reinstall.should take care of problem
