New Holland/2120
I had the tractor running for 30-60 min and then it suddenly died while moving some brush. I thought maybe I picked up a stick at first and hit some kind of a safety switch but I didn't see anything and the tractor could still turn over.

I tried to open a fuel line to the injector but did not raise the throttle to full before doing so. I turned over for maybe 5 seconds and no fuel came out. I pulled the fuel shut off solenoid and tested it on the bench seemed to work fine.

When winter first started I had some summer gas and needed to add extra anti-gel stuff because it was difficult to start... seemed like gelling to me. Will that effect filters long term?

I think I might have a fuel issue but I would be surprised if it is the pump. I would expect some warning signs.... not just complete failure.

Any other suggestions?

Sure sounds like a clogged up fuel filter.

Or an iced-up one. My SCUT does that when the spill drain around the (thru-hood) filler neck clogs with leaf/bud litter. Cool temps then cause water to siphon into the tank, settle in the line, and freeze up. It runs until I've sucked the line dry, then I pull the filter element, drop it into hot water to melt the 'ice cube' then blow-dry the water out, reassemble, and bleed.

This has happened 3 times, so I'm getting better at placing the heat gun to thaw the line from the fuel tank while cleaning up the filter. I've also put 50 hrs on the little guy since owning with no long term prob from whatever water I didn't remove from the system.

Sounds like I will have to take it off and look. I wasn't thinking so at first because there is about 10-15 hours on the filter. I need some time to play with it.

Root cause ended up being a bone head operator. A small stick came up along the tractor and I think what happened is it just hit the fuel shut off slightly on fuel filter while it was running. Either way.... I bleed the system and made sure the fuel was in the on position and bingo-bango! Fired up pretty quickly.

There are basically 3 positions on the fuel filter.

1. Left - On
2. Straight up and down - On
3. To the right - Off.

Is one a bypass of the filter? Or are they both the same thing?

The multiple positions sounds like it may have an on and reserve position. If that is the case it should be labeled on/off/res.

Do you have an operator manual?

They are both labeled On. So I don't think its a reserve because there is only one fuel line coming in... other reserves I've seen for other equipment/toys like a motorcycle is that it will pull from different heights. This is why I was wondering if was possibly a bypass.

I do have a manual but I didn't see anything useful pertaining to this. Just states to put fuel select to On if you want gas. Super helpfull!!!! I will look again.

I believe that my 1920 is exactly the same.
I remember that I have wondered why.
Am far away from tractor, so cannot confirm that the 1920 is the same.

Somewhat different on 2120 than all others of the 20 series .. here's all I found. Sorry it's sideways ...

btw, the 'popsicle' that I might have mentioned .. that I got/get in the Case (Shibaura) and it has the same 'not sure' valve positions that confuse me every time I have to thaw one of these.

WW, 2120 remains one of THE best CUTs, and not just IMO. I'm happy that you have one (well, jealous of that too )

I&T's 'FO-46' is a must-have manual for 20 series Ford/NHs. (<$30) ... but doesn't say which is what on our fuel shuts ...

Good to know. Thanks for the info! I have a manual and service manual and neither state with clarity from what I could tell.... Just like what you added for a photo.

Once I switch the filter I will confirm if it has any effect.
