New guy from Central Virginia

Hey, all!

My name is Bill. I live in Louisa County, VA (between Charlottesville and Richmond).

Been here coming up on 6 years. I have 51 acres, 7 acres are unwooded/mowable yard. Surrounded by farms and lots of empty land.

I bought a Kubota B3200 when I moved in, 90% use as a mower and 10% other farm-type stuff.

I love these internet forums! Just so much experience and information out there on any subject you can imagine.

I know I'll learn a lot from you folks.

Yeh, I got laid off a while ago, so won't be doing anything TOO stupid.

What got me was Kubota's zero percent financing, so I loaded up:

-Front end loader
-Backhoe
-Belly mower
-3 point rototiller

Then I bought some other stuff online and through Craigslist.

I have so much money in my tractor that it sits in the garage and my truck sits outside in the driveway.

Right now I'm looking for snow chains. Being 1/2 mile off of the paved road, I need to know I can get out..I don't want to be doing The Shining down here!!

What tires do you have? R4 - industrial tires, are not that great in snow but you can cut groves to make them grip better. If you have Ag tires or turf tires, they handle the snow pretty well. I have an L2800 with R4's and there isn't enough clearance for chains on the back (without buying ~$2-300 wheel spacers). I cut some grooves, and it improved the traction.

Personally, a snow blower will be in my future.... as well as a forestry winch... and also, well the list is long.
