I traded my B3030 in on a new L4060 hstc cab model. There is so many different settings with auto throttle, stahl guard, rabbit and turtle, peddle sensitivity, auto HDS, etc., what is your setup for brush hogging? Thanks

Turn auto throttle advance off when mowing.

Your call on stall guard. I've tried it both ways with my L6060 and found that stall guard will sometimes reduce ground speed to zero when pulling my HD 6' Woods cutter through heavy grass. By way of experiment, I sometimes turn stall guard on and mash the hydro pedal to the floor (M range). Mower load reduces PTO RPM and stall guard reduces ground speed. PTO RPM increases and stall guard increases ground speed. This scenario can produce bucking bronco effects.

I've also found that stall guard fights auto HDS when transporting in hilly conditions. Engine RPMs decrease when going up hill so auto HDS shifts to low and engine RPMs immediately increase causing HDS to shift back to high. This can go on indefinitely until I shift the left thumb pedal to low and leave it there at considerably reduced transport speed. Seems that Kubota might have anticipated such conditions and designed the algorithym(s) to prevent this.

I set the response to maximum for my purposes and sometimes find it too slow for my needs.

L4240 HSTC so similar;I run a six ft.bush-hog in medium range and turtle at about 2400 rpms.I don't use auto throttle or stall guard.
HST sensitivity has always been set in the middle and have never moved it(1400 hours.)
Leave hand throttle at it's lowest setting to engage PTO and idle down to disengage.

I have stall guard engaged all the time. No auto throttle when mowing, but if I'm in one of the flat areas, I will use cruise control. Typically mow in Medium-Low (turtle) (4MPH) because we have lots of uneven surfaces. In a few spots, I will mow in Medium-High (rabbit) and mow at almost 6MPH. Yet, most of the time it is ML gear. Never changed my peddle HST sensitivity.

One thing that I have added when mowing, a bottle of window cleaner and some paper tools when it is dry and dusty. Front window has the windshield wiper and spray, but nothing for the sides and when the sun is low, it can make it hard to see.

I am getting to old to be climbing around wiping windows so I take the lazy man approach. I spray the windows and use a telescoping squeegee. Works great. You are good to go in a couple of minute with clean windows.

The Wal Mart one works great. I store mine when not being used with the blade side down on a flat surface to insure I always have a good flat blade when needed to clean moisture from the windows.

On my M59 I usually leave it in 2 LOW and 4WD for hills and 2 HI 2WD for flat ground, auto throttle OFF, stall guard ON, slow response on the HST peddle. Im not sure what auto HDS is on your machine.

L4060HSTC here...

I leave stall guard on all the time & it rarely does anything unless I'm digging into a pile in to high of a gear. Then it does what it should.

I messed with the auto-throttle a bit, but went back to the separate throttle & go pedal. Definitely easier for mowing & I prefer the consistant behavior.

I'm generally mowing at 3-4mph. Usually medium-low. Occasionally pop it into medium high or go down on low range. I have a wide flail so am hurting for HP unless its light material. Even if I'm not hurting for HP I dont go much above 4mph. I'm generally on rougher fields. Even if it's a smoother field i don't feel like punishing my back.

You'll fiddle with the HST response a bit when you get the machine, then probably never again. Mine is somewhere in the middle, maybe a bit on the sharp side. Your options are smooth & a lazy response or a harsher more responsive response. I prefer my machine to respond quickly & do exactly what want. Smoother is nice, but it wont respond as quickly or precisely. It's a pain to change with the crappy dash interface. Although in all fairness I probably wouldn't adjust it much even if I had John Deere with a dedicated sensitivity knob.

On my L4240HSTC it's stall guard off, hydro response in the middle and auto throttle on. The stall guard and cruise control are really unnecessary for me. With the hydro response in the middle it stops the tractor quickly enough without being too jerky. The nicest feature of the tractor is the HST+.

I have come to appreciate the auto throttle. For mowing the auto throttle is on, but I use the manual throttle to set the minimum engine/PTO RPM's. That allows the tractor to work like the throttle and hydro are independent until the hydro pedal is pressed to where you can feel it bump and offer resistance. Pressed beyond that point increases travel speed and engine /PTO speed.
