New for 2011. 3000 and 4000 Twenty improvments

I received the Summer 2011 edition of "The Furrow" which many of you know is a worldwide farm magazine published by John Deere. In this issue there is an advertisement for the new for 2011 3000 and 4000 Twenty compact tractors.

The ad goes on to state that there are now up to five available independent hydraulic remotes and some radio improvement for the cab models. There is supposed to be a redesigned transmission with smoother and easier shifting. Finally, the open-station tractors are to have a new, quieter protective structure.

I asked my local dealer what he knew about the changes for the 2011 and the only thing he could comment on was the additional hydraulic remotes. I know there have been a number of posts on this board about the hydraulic improvements for 2011.

Does anyone have any news about an improved transmission? I'm trying to guess what a new, quieter protective structure for the open station would involve. As of last evening there was nothing on Deere's website.

I forgot to mention in the earlier post that there is a new "creep to reposition" feature as field installed option on the 4520 and 4720. This option allows the operator to reposition the tractor and control engine speed from the backhoe position.

The ad doesn't tell us if it can be retrofitted to previous build tractors or if it just for the 2011 model. I'm guessing its just for 2011 but I would love to have this feature on my 3720 with the backhoe.

I got my mag today also, I could use the backhoe new feature on my OS 3320 also. Been backhoe'ng for days at sons place with my 447 (I'm guessing I have 150+ hours on 447) and now 1,030+ hours on 3320 (new Dec 07). Glenn

That sounds like a clueless marketing guy's ad copy. All I can guess is that they add sound deadening material under the hood. Come to think of it, they offered an under hood sound package in Europe for the 4200 - 4400 series Deere's and I see the parts are available on the Deere parts web site. I may have to check into that.

The 110 tlb is no more. So it makes sense they'd offer this option to fill the gap. I wish they'd offer a hydro thumb with foot control for the 485 and a needle valve like Woods does on there Ground Breaker Hoes.

The quieter sound in the open cab models results from using new clamp type bolts on the folding ROPS hinge. The new system allows the hinge bracket to be tightened downs which I'm told equates to less (or none) clanking sound when operating.
