This isn't a promo thread about the new inverter I just purchased as I am sure they would all act the same. My welding experience can fit inside a thimble so excuse me for being so "awakened". I used to weld with a 100 amp 115 volt Century that I was lucky if it produced 70 amps. Wouldn't strike an arc without 10.000 tries and would never light a 3/32 6011. I plugged this little 140 amp inverter into a 115 10/2 30 amp circuit and I was startled. It just started welding as soon as I touched the metal. It fired the 6011 in one shot set @ 90 amps and this seemed too hot. I left it @90 anyway as I was doing a vertical and it was like pouring melted marshmallow into the seam. The weld looked as if I took caulking and smoothed it out with my finger and this was with a total welding dope holding the stinger. To think what I have been suffering through for 30 years with the Century.
