Kubota- BX2200
Well..not new but new rebuilt. I had a post many months ago looking for an engine for my Kubota KH151 Excavator. Thanks to all who replied to offer their assistance especially "Kubmech" and whoever suggested calling EPS (Engine Power Source). My machine has just been sitting outside in the weather for all these months but she is finally under roof once again. I removed the engine and disassembled it thinking of rebuilding it myself. WOW. The head was cracked in three places and had been welded up by whoever was the previous owners and it had cracked across all the welds. The crank was worn beyond spec, the cylinder sleeves were oval shaped and one of them had slipped down. I priced the parts and was looking at $7000-$8000 before I'd be finished. With advise from the Forum, I contacted EPS and they had (3 ) V1902 engines in stock. They were extremely nice to deal with and their engines are rebuilt, Dyno tested and warrantied for 1 year. $4200 plus another $400 of the core charge for my bad head. No deductions for the cylinder sleeves or crank. I had to swap out some of my old parts with the new engine but I expected that. I had to swap out the oil pan, head cover and intake manifold. I also had the radiator checked and cleaned all new hydraulic filters and oil and all new hoses that went to the engine. Installed it last week, hooked up the fuel lines, let the electric pump run for 2 minutes and it just sprang to life immediately! Thanks everyone for your help. I attached some photos.

That’s great news Mr. G. I’d of been going crazy thinking there weren’t engines available, if it were my machine. As much as I like your excavator I don’t think I would have liked it as permanent yard art./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Just curious, how many hours were on the engine? Sounds like very considerable wear...

Only 2700 hrs on the engine but I think there was a lot of idle time and just plain old not taking care of it! When they did they took a lot of shortcuts! Pennies under the air cleaner clamp to keep it from rattling instead of buying a new clamp, when the electric shutoff died they just ran a cable into the dash to work the stop lever instead of ordering a new solenoid, when they cracked the head they just welded it up and put it back on instead of replacing the head. Those are just a few of the oddities I've found.
