Took delivery today and had to dig out a stump with the ripper just to try it out. Worked great! There are lots of things that are in danger of being ripped out of the ground....

Nice Rugged Digging Machine there, looks like that ripper tooth is going to be quite handy. Congratulations on the new Bobcat.

Thanks guys. Got a another hour or so on it tonight. Really am liking the machine!

As far as price goes, it was north of 62k, but I got a lot of options, 2 buckets and the ripper. Price was too close to a low hour used plus I got a three year/2000 hour warranty that made it a no-brainier.

I looked at the Kubota but decided to stay away, no 40 minute regen or DPF on the Doosan engine. I went to demo the Kubota in the winter and the mechanic couldn't stop it from trying to Regen. He had to actually bring it in out of the cold so it could finish. I didn't want to deal with that.

I started on a couple of stumps that are close together. This should be interesting........

I was asking what engine was in your machine. Bobcat offered both. The Kubota engine in Bobcat was only tier 3. No DPF. The Doosan engine is holding up pretty good so far. I have had little customer problems. Had a few injectors fail but that was due to water and bad fuel.

Jabonee, that's good to hear that the Doosan engines are doing well. I know that more than a few folks were a bit skeptical.

Don't forget that first 50 hr service. Hopeful your dealer set your maintenance clock. It should start reminding you at 40 hr. That first maintenance is very important especially the track motor lube and the case drain filter that hides behind boom swing joint.

There was no optional Kubota engine in the 2016 E42, and it was my understanding that they currently only use the smaller Kubota engine that has no DPF. I looked at the Kubota excavator with similar hp but wanted to stay away from that regen cycle.

Got another hour on it tonight and got the stumps broken loose but I couldn't lift them out of the hole and had to drag them out with the tractor. Working with a/c and radio is sweet!

Probably should not have said optional. E42s with the SN starting with a "Axxxxxxxx" were equiped with the Kubota V2304 engine. "Bxxxxxxxx"s Have the Doosan D24 engine. You could have had your dealer locate one if you wanted the Kubota engine.

What are you saying? Are you talking about buying used/holdover from a previous year or what? I wouldn't buy a Bobcat with a Kubota engine if it has the same engine that Kubota is currently putting in their excavators. Are you talking pre tier 4?

Yes,a hold over. Any Bobcat dealer can search all Bobcat dealer inventories in the US to locate a machine if that dealer dose not have the specific machine the customer wants. The V2403 Kubota engine used in Bobcat already meets Tier 4 requirements and has no DPF. I don't know what Kabota is using in there excavators but if it has a DPF its IT4 or Tier 4. Thats why Bobcat stopped using Kubota engines. They could not or would not produce a higher HP Tier 4 engine with out a DPF. Also, don't confuse Kubota with Kubota USA. :jump:
