Has anyone tried the Limbinator Saws chainsaw thats listed on the classified attachment page? I saw one at the Southern Farm show and it looked pretty useful.

There is a video on YouTube showing operation. It looks like a great tool for trail maintenance (clearing the overhead branches).

It also appears that if a person wasn't careful, they could get hit with falling limbs, especially widow-makers.

The manufacturer also has a short video you can watch. It describes a little bit about the attachment and use of it:

There is also a similar attachment called the LimbHog which is basically the same unit. I wonder which one came first?

Just my 2 cents worth of wisdom. It looks sort of awkward to use that saw. The visibility from inside the cab over the bucket and then trying to get to the branch just looks like it wouldn't be that easy. I could be wrong as I haven't tried it. Another thing is if you are trying to prune branches you would need to do a undercut so that you don't greenstick and peel wood from the tree or branch. You want to make a clean cut if you are going to leave the branch or tree so as to not damage it for future growth. If you are just cutting down the tree or completely then no big deal. Another thing I see is falling branches hanging up on that saw or falling down and hitting the tractor. If you are in a enclosed cab it isn't so bad. With an open cab swinging branches or branches the pogo and spring back up can get you.
On the other hand not having to get on a ladder to prune or climb the tree would be a bonus I think. If it were my gadget I would give it more movement such as rotation of the saw and extension from the boom. Maybe a mini camera to see where the saw is from inside the cab...

Thanks for the post. Looks like it will have its place of usefulness. And their is room for others to improve on it.
Guess I'd be using the telescoping hand-carried chainsaw, not as much for the price difference, but for the utility of covering more situations.

For price consideration, would have to compare using a man-lift on a boom and a hand-carried chainsaw.

And I sometimes just use the shotgun....works and I stay on the ground. :D
