I am trading my bx2200 in on a new bx2230, the new one comes this Friday. I thought that it was a 'no brainer' as to what kind of tire to get but now I am re-thinking after recent posts. I was going to definitely go with the turf tires but now am thinking of going with the Bar tires. If I do this I will need a set of turf tires. Anyone live close to Fredericksburg, Va. that would sell their turf tires at a good price? I need to know something by the end of the day in order to tell the dealer what to put on the tractor.

There are several posts recently on this. Search for bar and turf and you should get some good hits. I will summarize- turf seems to work better in snow and grass, but bar are more versatile and most likely won't hurt your grass unless you're turning in 4WD. Lots of people buy both and never use the turf tires. My suggestion is still- buy bar and if you need to add turfs at a later time you can do so.

Noticed you needed this earlier but just now getting on the TBN!!

Thanks newcountry, turns out I have until Thursday around 10am EST to make my decision. If I could find someone in my local area (within 150 miles of Fredericksburg, Virginia) that was selling the turf tires at a good discounted price then I would most definitely have the bar tires put on from the dealer. Thanks again for your post. I'll post pics as soon as I get 'em of the new tractor.

This is a diversion, but I'm curious what made you buy the 2230 and trade the 2200??????

THKS.

There are a few reason that I decided to do this 1) mine is now 3 years old and is no longer under warranty. 2) I was going to upgrade, to go up to the 2630 was just too much of a price jump and I could not justify it to myself or my wife. 3) For the first 2.5 years of owning the tractor it had sat outside. I now have a garage to put it in and would like the new tractor to never have sat outside. 4) Lastly, the dealer is giving me $9500 for mine and selling me a new one for $12500- after tax the difference will only be $3150. I thought $3150 was a good deal for was I was buying back.

Just to let ya know, I received the new 2230 last Friday. I was so glad it was raining.... it gave me the opportunity to wash and wax the new machine prior to it being used. Not so happy that I haven't had the time since to really use the mahine. After all the post on this website I decided to go with the R4 bar tires, I am sure I will be happy with that decision but if not I'll go buy some turf tires when I can. I will post pics as soon as I get a chance. Thanks to the advice at all the various treads as to what tires to get.
