Hi all! Just got my new box blade. It's a Tarter Gates 60" HD w/hinged back. Seems real heavy duty, basically a copy of the KK HD, and a whole lot better built and stiffer than my cousin's grizzly. It fit my needs and my budget quite nicely. After a couple of days worth of dragging dirt and gravel around, I'm very happy with my purchase.

I let my dad try his hand at leveling out some high spots in a meadow.

It's good to know that a box with the hinged back blade is still available. I have been looking for one.
If you haven't already, you will find that this type blade is far superior to the upsidedown "V" desighn on most other blades.
It is much easier to grade going down a hill then going up and with this type blade you don't have the rear blade draging and preventing a deep cut:thumbsup:

Good deal Joe. BB are one of the best investments someone can make if they have some ground work to do. Especially with the Hinged back. You probably already know that though.
Have fun tearing and smoothing everything out. You should get many many years of usability from that one.
Really like the thumb on the front loader, how do you like that one?

Giles: Yes, the hinged back is going to be a very good feature. I could tell that from the start. Our heavy work will begin next year when I cut a road to get to some back fields and woods. I can drive there now, but boy is it rough!

Grut: The thumb is great! It's been easily worth every penny invested as I've already made light work out of a bunch of big jobs with it. I can see it will be a very valuable tool for many years to come.

Thanks for the kind words!

Looks like a good rugged unit - you won't have to baby that thing. Good choice.
