John Deere 5055e
I googled up the 5000 series and came across this link:

John Deere 5E 3 Cylinder Series Tractors

I assume it's a European model (altough I can't seem to figure out from which country, as there's no indication), as the styling is completely different. At any rate, there's a little video that I paused when the character was getting onto the platform - it clearly shows an E-brake on the left-hand-side. The one thing I'm concerned about on the 5055E I just ordered is that there's no actuating the rear brakes - only a "park" on the transmission. I'm sure it's nothing to worry about, just a first for me on a tractor. I kind of like the automotive-like e-brake handle shown in the video.

That video is not for North America tractors...chances are it may have different equipment that an "Other Countries" model. They are made in India. Our 5403 is the same as your 5055E. The trans-brake works just as well as an ebrake.

Here's the specs and Nebraska test on the 5055e:

Wife's new 5065m in assembled in USA with various components from all over the world, engine Mexico, hydraulics Brazil, transmission I think China, and the 2WD front axle from India. The axle looks well made but someone needs to go over there teach them how to weld, I believe they'll hold but sloppy looking welds don't begin to describe it. Nearly all the castings these days are coming from India or China. She ordered the front weight bracket and the word India was casted right into it, that also goes for the rear wheel weights. The front suitcase weights aren't in yet. The first ones they ordered to save $20 a piece were so rough she told them they could keep them and order 4 more from John Deere. I must admit I'm not sure who they got them from but man they were rough and I'm it just talking about paint.

BTW: The there's no park brake lever on the 5M series either just a Park position on the gear shifter. Wife thought it was a bit strange but she's getting used to it. I personally think its just another safety feature to make sure you have it in neutral and forces you to put it in Park.

Sorry double post somehow.

I like the rear view mirror setup but it would have to be higher up to not hit my head when dismounting the machine. I'll have to keep that in mind as I add roof and soft cab to mine.

I here ya. My 3320 is like that. Parts from all over but, assembled in Georgia. I just bought some new shocks for my truck and the piston is no longer chrome. Just basically smothed black steel. They came with a card saying that they were made in an environmentally friendly way. Real world meaning, the EPA is trying to get rid of the chroming process in the US. This is how it started with stainless steel pipe. Sorry to get off topic.

The hydraulic cylinder rods on my wife's JD 448 Round Baler are coated with something black instead of chrome.

My 5410 is the same way. I thought it was strange when I first got it, but you get used to it. I think it's a great feature because unless your a totally moron there's not much way to get off the tractor without putting it in park.

Using mine the other day and still getting used to it at 14 hours I got the impression that I needed to step on one of the brakes to get it to slip into the park position so it maybe both a park gear and a brake lock. I suppose I could break out the owners manual and find out. Be neat if it was as there are already more then enough levers sticking up around that open station.
