Still Lookin'
Well I took the plunge last Friday on the 5500. And as promised here is a picture. It is bigger than what I currently need, but wanted to make sure I didn't have to upgrade later. It is an awesome piece of machinery. I put it right to work, I couldn't wait to get it dirty. I love getting new toys I MEAN NEW TOOLS :D

Congrats on your excellent choice. Nice mower also.

Last March I traded my Kubota B7510HST for a Mahindra 5525 with the ML250 FEL. Couldn't be more satisfied. That 5525 is one sweet machine. Got a 6-ft Hawkline brush hog for rear end ballast.

that's a good looking machine! i see you got a fel. i had to choose to get MFWD or a fel, couldn't afford both right now. i went with the MFWD and will add the fel later. the wait is gonna kill me though! Howse makes a dang good bush hog too. a friend of mine has one and it has taken a LOT of abuse and never failed him.

SETex, nice looking machine. You are going to love playing, er, ah, working with it. Won't be long before you add a Markham toothbar, bucket hooks and a canopy. Enjoy your new toy, ah, make that tractor. :D

I have plans to put the welder to work on some additions to the bucket, I just want to think it through and hopefull get them where I need them the first time. I have already saw the post about the Sunrise Red paint that matches the color. Thanks to all! I am happy to be a part of the family.

If you're planning to weld chain hooks to your bucket, you might get some ideas from the hooks on my ML250 bucket.

These hooks came from AW Direct. The two outer grab hooks cost a few bucks. The center chain hook cost about $80. I provided the hooks and my dealer welded them on free of charge. Note the reinforcement he added to the top of the bucket to accommodate the hooks.

I also bought triple remotes for the 5525. Cost: $750 installed.

If you're interested, have your dealer contact my dealer, Dave Siemens of Dave's Tractor for the parts list and installation tips.

Flusher,

Nice unit. I went to AW Direct's web site. I found your center hook but not the two side ones. Could you please post the page or serial number?

Thanks,

George

Do the hooks need to be something special, or will any grade 70 grab hooks do? I like the two outer hooks slanted toward the middle. I am trying to decide if I want to be able to add a hay spear to the bucket or just build it's own skid steer bracket and swap them when needed. I think I will pass on the $80 hook. Thanks for the pics they look great.

As far as I know the grade 70 grab hooks are OK. The ML250 FEL on my 5525 will lift 2900 lb. But I haven't tried to lift this much with chains and the grab hooks on the bucket.

I'm still kicking myself for not getting Mahindra's skid steer adapter on the FEL when I bought the tractor. Later this year I'll get the parts from Dave. I'll have to cut off the standard mounting brackets on the bucket and weld on the skid steer compatible ones.

Kinda hijacking here but staying within the spirit...

Flusher- The cross tube looks like it is sealed and has a fitting. Is this an air tank? I have a 5500 with the loader and have thought of doing this if its the same.

Nope. It's a storage compartment that holds the two legs for the FEL. You can one of the leg brackets on the inside of the left FEL arm along with the locking screw. Legs are installed in the brackets before detaching the FEL from the tractor.
