Mahindra 4530
Hello all,

First off, I want to thank everybody who takes time out of your busy schedules to share your thoughts and experiences on this board. I'm new to tractors, and Tractorbynet has been an invaluable source of information and guidence in helping me decide which tractor to buy. Thank you all!

Now that we got that out of the way, on to the good stuff....

After what seemed like months of exhausting research, I finally pulled the trigger and purchased brand-spanking-new 4530 complete with the 245 FEL. Got just under 8 hours on it, and have been very happy with it thusfar. Originally I was going to buy the 4035 because it had several nice features that appealed to me (HST, push-button PTO, cup holder). I drove both, and in the end decided on the 4530. To me, it just felt like so much more tractor. It has a much greater lift capacity at the 3PT as well as the loader. It also came with a rear remote (BTW, both tractors were the same price).

So, I got the tractor home and proceeded to unload 85 double stacked bales that weighed every bit of 1200-1300 pounds. I knew then I made the right decision once we started offloading. It got a little bouncy-bouncy, and the back tires were spinning on some of the bales, but thanks to the 4WD, it handled them without a problem. That was probably about it's limit without adding some weight to the back end. I would not have felt comfortable doing this on the 4035.

Yes, I gave up the HST (and more importantly, the cup holder), but I just didn't think it was that big of an issue given how I'm using the tractor. Got some more to add to the story but it's past my bedtime.

Thanks again - so happy to have a board like this around!

Congrats, Michael.
Have the rear tires filled, goodbye bouncy-bouncy.
A piece of 3 inch PVC with an end cap, a couple of zip ties to secure your new "cupholder" to the ROPS and you are ready to go.

I agree with weldingisfun, fill your tires and you will be amazed at how much better your tractor will feel and handle. As far as the cup holder, a lot of people put to much consideration to these already being on the tractor. Put a few minutes of thought into it and a few $ towards some PVC or ABS pipe and you will have yourself a real nice if not better than OEM cup holder. I used an ABS end cap and an aluminum angle to make mine for my 3215, most people think that it came with the tractor.

Oh, pictures of your tractor are appreciated here on TBN.

Congrats on your new tractor. Have a ball.

There are numerous TBN threads on DIY rear ballast boxes if you're into fabrication. I generally just hitch up an implement to the 3pt (2-14 plow, brush hog, etc) to balance my Mahindra 5525 when FELing.

As previously stated, fill the rears...much steadier with another 1K lbs under your butt...as far as the cupholder, I took the "water bottle holder' off a bicycle, drilled a couple of small holes in the right fender and mounted it...works perfect. BobG in VA

Funny - on the way home from the dealer, my wife suggested building a PVC cup holder! Guess I oughta listen to her once and awhile :) I like weldingisfun's zip tie to the ROPS idea. Can't bring myself to drill holes in the fender just yet - too new.

Definately going to look into filling the tires. Also, I'll get some pics posted in the next day or two.

Mr Enigma,
Welcome to TBN. I understand about drilling holes in the fender.;) Took me about a year before I could brave drilling holes for a tool box in my fender.

Finally took some pics of my 4530. I got some quality seat time shredding a half dozen acres testing out my Rhino gearbox rebuild. Pretty happy with the tractor thus far (have 18 hours on it). The parking brake light burned out already, but that's no big deal.

One thing I have noticed is the brakes make a 'clunk' sound when you hit the brake pedal, but only when the tractor is in reverse, and only when applying the brake the first time after shifting from the forward position. Brakes work fine aside from that, so I'm hoping it can wait until my 50 hour service.

MrEnigma

that is a great looking tractor. I noticed your in N TX. What dealer did you purchase your tractor from? How was the experience?

I have not visited a dealer yet, just hanging out on this forum getting educated first.
