Tractor
New Holland 3040
We have 46 acres of Ozarks woods with a small Morton garage that we finished into a nice cabin. We're planning on clearing a homesite and living there full time within the next couple of years.

I've been mowing and hauling firewood with a Yamaha ATV, but it just wasn't the correct tool for a big job. I looked at Green, but the three area dealers wouldn't even return my phone calls. The one Orange dealer I visited had nothing in stock to look at, and the other two were some distance away. I stopped at a Mahindra dealer, but there was no one there interested in selling anything.

I ended up at the New Holland dealer in Clinton, Missouri. They were helpful, attentive, and educational. They didn't have the exact tractor I was looking for in stock, but found one at another dealer and had it picked up within a couple of days.

They dropped my baby off last Friday. I'm a tractor noob, and the person who delivered it spent over an hour getting me started on operating and maintaining it.

I spent the weekend burning (surprisingly little) diesel fuel, and figuring out that moving stuff with the loader ain't as easy as it looks.

Here's a couple of pictures. Keep in mind that I haven't had a chance to wax it yet...

Welcome to the TBN. That is a beautiful tractor. I am a huge fan of the big blue brand.
I have had mine for 6 years and every time I climb up in to the seat it is still a joy. I have sat in the seat and operated most all of the other major brands and with some of them I always felt like I was sitting down inside the operators area. With the NH Boomer line I like the fact that you sit up high with a good commanding view of my work area and surroundings. Kind of like the pilot house on a mega yacht. You will have many many years of pleasure with your 3040.
Just keep practacing and playing you will be an old novice with the loader in no time.

Nice looking tractor you got there!!! You will learn pretty fast how to use it. Not to get away from your new tractor but I am interested in some more info on your garage and how you turned it into a living area also. This is what I plan to do in the next few years.

We're planning on using a Morton Building post-frame building as the shell of our 2400 sq. ft. home. Morton (and other post-frame builders) are selling a lot of their buildings for residential use. I thought I'd start a new thread and see if anyone else is interested.

Nice looking tractor and building. I have the Case version of your tractor and really like it. I know what you mean about not burning much fuel, I went from a gasser to a diesel, what a difference in fuel consumption.

I like the color scheme of your building. What is the exact color of the bottom? It looks like a charcoal or dark grey. Are the doors two different colors, or am I seeing something else?

The bottom is a dark brown. We wanted a color scheme that blends in with the woods. The door on the left has a garage door screen over it. When the weather is nice we can open the big door into the living space and still keep the critters out.

Congratulations, that's a great looking tractor. You'll get better with time. Pitch a football sized rock out on the ground and practice picking it up. In the beginning you may push it around a lot, but sooner or later you will be able to know where the bucket lip is and the proper angle to undercut something. Unless it's very large and heavy, it's nearly impossible to pick something up without getting a little dirt too. Don't try it on your lawn.
