Hello everyone. I am Chris. this is my first post. I am not new here. i been comeing here for months reading and learning. and gathering information. I usualy hang out in the garden tractor forum at MTF. i see some folks i reconize from the other places. like ducati996 and JD Fanatic gets around.:D
i was googleing and found this place. Well here is my story. i am sure i will be long winded. with excitement. I have only about 2 acers of land. 40% grass the rest just wooded. I plain on adding about 40 feet to my garage and about 200 feet of drainage to keep up. the drainage ditch has trees right around it. so space is limited. i need to build a retaining wall and trees and stumps to dig up. so i was considering a 3320 with a 448 hoe. i drove every tractor under the sun. kubota new holland
and all the JD's 2305 was alittle small for size of trees i was needing to deal with. and i need more lifting power and i mess with hot rod cars and need to be able to lift 900 pound big block chevys out of the back of pick ups. I narrowed it down to the 3320 and the 2520. after severl months. reality set in a 3320 witch with all the toys i wanted was just a little to big for my small acerage. and was going to be about 32.000 with hoe and toys.and it would not fit in some places i needed to be. the kubotas as nice as thay were. and kubota folks please dont take offence. but after you drive a JD it is hard to drive anything else. i found them to be the most comfortable. kubota seat was not a plesent to me. So i settled on a 2520. :) after talking to many dealers and listening to all of you for several months. i felt i was ready to strike a deal with my local dealer. thay treated me well last year when i bought my new GX garden tractor. Buy the way my 2520 will only be used as a tractor. my GX that i love so much will be for all grass mowing..:p
So here is my deal. after seeing gunmakers 2520 with toothbar . i thought it was the coolest tractor i ever saw...:D if i did not do good. please by all means. say Chris you messed up. my Skin is thick i can take it. so here is what i ordered.

New 2007 JD 2520 with r4's wheels all wide side out

Good insight. over the months. this was the most informative reading
i done in a while. and Ducati996 says the loader will pick up more than JD says it will so i am going to trust him . And thanks to JD Fanatic for telling everyone for years to by a cut tractor instead of a X seris.:D
because 6 months ago i was just about to buy a X748. and i know now it would have not done what i wanted to do.:( I needed a Hoe...:) Dont we all..:D

it will be here in about 2 weeks. i am excited...

Chris;)

Geeesh the pressure on to make sure what I say is correct....let me check for a second....yes

overall run it buy the dealer on what you want to do. depends on the lifting angle and I dont see how a small block (or big block motor ) will fit in your 61" bucket. So the question of how far out you are going to go from the pivot point or bucket center. Usually fork lifts will reduced the FEL ability...

Duc

p.s I forgot to welcome you to the board ! I think you will like the 2520 series

Well acualy Duc what i plan on for lifting a engine. would be putting hooks eather bolted to a plate on the bucket. or I may just weld them. I think i read somewhere you picked up 800 pounds of concrete in your bucket. is this correct....:)

Yes after driveing and playing with about 8 different tractors.
for my needs. i liked the 2520 the best overall.;)

I will sure post pictures when it comes.:)

Yes I did post that I lift that much and more all the time. In these pictures you see how large the concrete is - all of it in the bucket went into the truck. The weight was 1000lbs +/- a few ounces.
I know the weight because I went to a weigh station and that was the difference -before and after dumping the concrete.

I know i fill the 61" bucket all day long regardless of content - no problem.

I dont know maybe I have the genetic freak out of the bunch - but I know its stronger in all ways than my 4100. and I think it should be

Yes those are the pics..:)

I remember seeing those and helping me lean to the 2520;)
By the way what size bucket you have on your hoe. i was not sure what to get so i got a 16 inch.
and how well does it work. have you dug up any stumps with it.
does it have good dig force.

Chris:)

Congrats on the tractor. I'm sure it will work out just fine. Sounds like you went first class with the order list. NOW.... expand on the chev big block issues. You hit me where it strikes home. Just bought a 70 GTO 455HO with a turbo 400. Now we have his and hers big block cars ( among the rest of the fleet. )
I have a 4110 for the lawn and garden work. Very spunky little machine. I also have a NH TC55DA with a loader and a Bradco hoe to mount for the larger issues. One can never have enough toys !

Thank you. after talking with several dealers
and a whole lot of research. i felt it was a reasonable price.
we haggled for a while. i got where i felt comfortable. I had my own figure
before i got to the dealer. from his starting price. i got down about 1,350$
i felt satisfied with with it. i know he has to make a liveing too.
and thay have been good to me in the past. The hoe is what really get it
up there. there always the most pricey of toys.
