Tractor
Looking
EDIT: this thread is about the new Branson 2510 model, not the 2501 as I originally titled this thread...sorry for the confusion......

Hi, I'm looking for my first tractor. I live in a 4 traffic light town...Granbury, Tx which just happens to be the home of Big Reds. I've been visiting the last couple of weeks trying to decide on which tractor I need. I just bought 5 acres that is way overgrown with brambles, etc. It has probably been 10 years since it has been mowed or cleared. I finally decided the first thing to do is hire an expert with a large tractor/dozer who can rip up all the vines and mow it enough so I can walk the property. That way, I don't have to buy a much larger tractor (heck) but maybe get by with a 2400H with FEL. However, just this week Big Reds got a new tractor...a 2510. It has a Yanmar engine. Seems like it is the perfect competition against Kubota and JD. It is a thousand more than the 2400H. The salesman laughed and said he hasn't sold a 2400 since the 2510 showed up.

However, much like buying any Branson, it seems like I am operating on faith. Nothing on this new tractor on Branson's website, nor any articles that I can find anywhere. It is hard to believe to me that a company would introduce a new tractor and not have advertising lined up and their web exploding with info. I'm lucky to be a Texan and even luckier to live down the street from Big Reds...sure wish the corporate leadership had as much interest in their products and you and I do!

Anyone have info I have missed?

So it's a Branson with a Yanmar engine? I thought TYM bought Kukje for the engines. The new subcompact 19hp that's shared between TYM and Branson also has a Yanmar engines. I figured that Branson just didn't make one that small. But if a second new Branson has Yanmar, that might mean something. What, I don't know.

I couldn't find any information, kind of strange since its a new product. You might want to go over to Cosper Tractor in Alvarado and compare the Kioti.

Re: New 2501H out...can't find much on it!

It is a 2510 not a 2501. It is the new 10 series that obsoletes the 00 series. Looks the same at first glance as a 2400 except it has a three range gearbox and telescoping rear 3pt links.

More of a model re-designation because the 05 TYM subcompacts came out, doesn't make as much sense to have a 00 series that is bigger than the 05 series. Now the only confusion is that the old 10 series is about the same chassis size as the new/current 15 series.

Dubious about the Yanmar engine. The 05 series has a Yanmar but the new 10 series 2510 has the same ole Kukje Cummins A series 1.2. Even says so on Big Red's link below.

Yep, your right, it is the 2510 not the 2501. (I'll try to update the title of the thread to avoid confusion!)
Note the link you (PapeCAT) provided takes you to BigReds page...not Branson's! The info in the link doesn't mention the Yanmar engine, but shows the "standard" Kukje diesel (only 25hp). Like I said, taking some of this on faith! As I mentioned, the only info I had was from the salesman at Big Reds tonight....thanks for this link, even if it does mention another engine.

Re: New 2501H out...can't find much on it!

I'd be surprised they would go to the trouble to put a yanmar in that chassis. The cummins works just fine and is an "in-house" engine. Can't imagine they'd spend the R&D shoehorning in a yanmar for no good reason. He might be confusing the 1905 TYM Yanmar powered tractor?

I'll let you know next week when I go back to either buy it, or a 3015. I'm still debating over the size I need to keep up with the 5 acres I've bought. Until it is cleared enough so that I can see the dirt, I won't know if I will need the bigger tractor to handle the land.

Buy the 3015 I have one and its a hoss compared to the ls xg3025 I had that blew the engine at 51 hrs because a seal issue ,,my dealer bought it back and so far it still sits in back of the lot waiting on ls to pick it up ,, Now back to the 3015 it may be a little bigger than you need but you can always reduce power but you cant never use what it doesn't have

Re: New 2501H out...can't find much on it!

EXACTLY my thinking! But I feel like Tim in "Tool time"....can't convince my wife I need more power! She is just looking at the bottom line. Oh well, after 40+ years of blissful marriage I should be able to figure out a good "story".

A old guy told me one time to buy my second tractor first ,, because most first time tractor buyers will buy a tractor to small the first time around then realize they needed one just a bit bigger
