I just looked at a new 2210 at my dealer and it already has 4 hours on it. Is that still considered to be a new unit and sold as one? That seems like a lot of test driving.

All my local dealers will drop off machines and
leave them sometimes for a week.
So 4 hrs. would be a couple demos.
My 35D had 7 hrs when i bought it
(3 hrs was my demo time).
Great to have dealers like this.

Yes it's still considered new. It would be the same if you went in to the dealer and wanted to try the unit out. They would start it up and you would drive around with it, listen to it, crawl around, etc. Do that a few times and it's not hard to have four hours on one. Plus they usually move them around quite a bit at the dealers as well. Alot of them move them out and in everyday etc. Unless you order one and get it out of the crate it's going to have some hours on it.

Hi,

I'm wondering how many hours do you think would classify it as "used"?

On the same token, how many miles on a brand new car would be considered 'used" on the dealer's lot? /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Not sure why you ask, but would you feel good about the dealer if you looked at a 2210 on his lot, but he told you that you would have to buy it before you could test drive it?

With this new model, maybe a lot of people have driven it and have ordered new ones to be delivered later (seems there is some backordering happening, and people are waiting for their 2210's). I also think it would still be sold as new, and not even broken in good yet.

I bought my Deere gator new and when I got it home, somehow the key was left on (could even have been me!). The hour meter was running for about 12 hours before I noticed it. I doubt that was the reason for the 2210 hours you looked at, but it still is a possibility.

JM3,
I just bought a new truck this weekend. When I got in to test drive it, the salseman said "You must be the first one to drive it............it only has 11 miles on it". Where in the world did it get 11 miles on it from loading and unloading?

Hi Jerry,

They must be using those "made in Texas" loading ramps... /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I ordered a new 93 Chevy truck and
when i picked it up it had 20+ miles.
Dealer said they test drive all vehicles on
a specific route to test all the options.
The 2003 I just got had 75 miles because they
had it in showroom at work (dealer is 35 miles
away).
A friend just got new Suburban and it has 480
miles because of dealer trade in VA.

Hi, gejlp.

If that 2210 is the first 2210 to arrive at that dealer, I bet the dealer and his staff made a few circles in the lot even before prospective customers fired it up. Just make sure nobody put any gum under the seat! (No joke, I spotted a wad of bubble gum under the seat of a 4110 a few weeks ago. We're living amongst pigs!)
