Never tillage with second or third gear a hard soil...

Hi all,
a friend after using 2nd gear low on (iseki 2160 4x4) for tilling a hard soil field he noticed strange noises from gearbox... He ask my opinion and decided to open it. Destruction... Counter gear useless, reverse gear the same, second gear p.t.o same damage. A lot of chipping and deformation of gear teeths. Cost of parts 920.00 $ from iseki dealer. looked on ebay nothing. Looked in Italy prices almost the same. VERY EXPENSIVE.

Hi again,
just finish the repair and tractor sounds good again. For people will dismantle and put back gears on iseki 2160 model, they must pay attention when installing the p.t.o gears at the back of the tractor, mesh them together and drive them at the same time in the case. If you put either of them it's self the other one won't fit. Good luck...

Nice job on getting the Iseki back up and running. I have to agree about tilling in hard soil -best to start in a low gear for sure... sounds like it tore up the gears without over working the engine- which seems a little unusual, did the tractor have a lot of hours on it when it failed..?? Anyway glad it's back together and running again:thumbsup:

Hello,
my friend said he did it once but i suspect he was doing it all the time...Tractor has only 345 hrs
Something about the oil he was using; was 80w-90 which was not suitable for hydrauli system and he had a very slow respond at the linkage. Now i used super universal tractor oil 15w-30 from texaco. Hydraulics work fine. I could use the 80w s.u.t.o which it's viscosity is something like 20w-20
but not suitable for the engine where as the 15w-30 s.u.t.o is...
