Got the call Sunday evening that the main door on my shop building was open as my neighbor was returning from a run to the store. He knew I was out of town and gave me a call. He looked around and nothing seemed to be missing or out of place so he hit the button on the door opener and it closed and locked. Then last evening on his way home the door was open again. He stopped his truck in the street and when he did, the door went down! Thinking someone was in the shop, he immediately called the Sheriff an they were there in a few minutes. I gave the code to my neighbor and they opened the door and looked around but no one was inside. At that point I finally was able to calm down and rationalize that something was going on with the door opener.
After the deputies left, he went to move his truck from the middle of the street and when he was heading back it closed again. I had him climb up and pull the cord on the opener after it was down and locked so it would stop till I can get back there and troubleshoot what the problem is.
The opener is a Liftmaster jackshaft type. I have a wireless keypad outside the door and a wired controller in the shop. All remotes are accounted for and not on the property. I am guessing that something flakey on the control board in the lift unit, but not sure how to troubleshoot the problem. Any ideas?
Thankful for a great neighbor.
