Needs advice on KIDS by boy TOYS !!!

So my dad wants to buy an atv or side by side for my kids. Of course DW is mostly against it. I'm open to the discussion. My question is what are the pro and cons of atv, side by side, dirt bike?

We live in a pretty open area. I've always had snowmobiles when I was young so I know what that's about. What are kids going to have most fun in and be safest in. I like the side by side bc of the roll cage. Or for the same price I could go with two atv or dirt bikes. I'm not into off shore unit, I have enough projects, I don't want to tinker with the kids toys everytime they want to go out.

I'm also interested if anyone has input on brand specific option, but I'll mostly likely end up with a polaris unit bc we have a dealer whose a client in the familly business. I realize polaris doesn't make a dirt bike.

My two boys are 6 and 10, two girls are 3 and 4.

Most fun dirt bike ,also the most dangerous,second the ATV's ,safest are the sidexsides and they can be alot of fun also.

I'm pretty happy with my Polaris ATV that I have owned for 6 years. Next door neighbor bought a Polaris UTV last summer and he really likes it. I have watched his three young daughters flail his UTV all day long and he hasn't had any problems with it. Having ridden both dirt bikes and ATV's the ATV scares me a little more. When I got dumped on a dirt bike I could jump off it. And dirt bikes don't weigh much. Getting swatted by a 750 pound ATV if it ever flipped is a concern for me.

Normally someone is referring to a UTV.

I brought the boys to a motor sports show tonight, all major brands were there with utv, quads and bikes. I think the boys wanted the bikes more. Decision is not final yet, the boss(dw) isn't convinced bikes are the right thing.

I've been hurt pretty good on bikes and I was much older than 3 - 10. If I couldn't wait a few years I would go with a UTV.

I wrote the girls ages for reference only. I thought for a utv they may be old enough as a riding passenger.

I am probably a bad example, but all of our kids were riding motorcycles at five or six, started out on a 50cc Italajet, no ATV's or UTV's back then. My daughter lost interest in her teens, but my sons still like motorcycles though they no longer have dirt bikes, Harleys now.

I let my grand-kids drive our Rhino once they are old enough after a lot of time with an adult in the passenger seat or my YFM 225 Moto4, but won't let them near my 700 Grizzly. All of this with the approval of their parents of course.
