I may have a hard time explaining this but here goes.. I need to remove the backhoe from my machine so as to move the tractor into my shop for a motor rebuild. I will have to run the tractor with the hydraulic hoses removed from the backhoe hydraulic bank of valves and was needing to know how to re-route the hoses to do this. It has 3 hoses coming from the tractor side that will have to be removed from the backhoe bank of valves. Pump Pressure hose from the pump, Power beyond hose going to front loader valve, and the return (sump) hose. In the picture you can see 2 hoses on the left and 1 hose on the far right. Left top hose is the Sump hose, left bottom hose is the Power Beyond hose, and the far right hose is the Pump Pressure hose. My question is do I connect the power beyond and the pump pressure hose together and cap off the sump hose. This would allow the front loader to still operate and this also operates my steering and hydraulic brakes. The machine is an International 260A backhoe. I won't be adding or changing anything just removing the backhoe temporarily and will mount it back on (one of these days or years) after the rebuild. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would think you can just plug or cap the hoses. It will act just like it is connected to the backhoe with no valve activated.

You can do as you state connect pressure & power beyond together & cap return hose. You shouldn't cap pressure hose & operate machine as that could harm hyd pump.

Sorry, no you can't do that. The valve will be most likely an open center valve meaning fluid will still pass thru it to the PB port with all the spools in neutral. Capping all 3 will dead head the pump an have no flow to anything down streem of the BH valve

Cap the return line and hook the other 2 together with a loop of hose.

Good Morning everybody I thank you for the information. My manual says be sure to re-route the hoses in the proper way or damage to the pump could occur. My manual is not specific for this model so I thought I'd ask someone who knows. It kinda made sense the way I was gonna do it but.... my manual also shows another line going to the valve bank thats not on my backhoe and they call it a hose coming from M.C.V. ? Don't know what this was for on some models maybe a line associated with a 3 pt hitch or PTO that mine is not equipped with.

Tx Jim: its makes me wonder why that manual couldn't just say what you said. Thanks

bindian: Thanks for the reply and that was my first thought just to cap them. Theory being if you're not using them cap them. If I remove the loader, the valve bank will stay on the tractor so I can do as you said and just cap the lines going to the cyclinders.

CDN Farm Boy: We have a little blast of your weather down south for a few days. Thanks for info to me and bindian about the potential pressure problem associated with these hydraulic systems. I rebuild my own cylinders and minor stuff but not up to par on the tech stuff.

Yeah, I misunderstood. I thought it was down stream of the valves.
