Hello All,
I am new to the tractor game so I want to be careful to use my FEL and other attachments as intended and not damage them. I have a mini 'bluff' I guess you could call it where there is about a 16 to 18" dropoff in an area. I am hoping to level this out a bit so that I can comfortably drive a tractor across it or even walk over it without breaking my leg.

Dimensions: Approximately 18" dropoff, 50 feet in length or so.

The question: I know my loader isn't necessarily designed for 'digging', so I am wondering if there is a way I can utilize my tractor to fix this problem.. pics attached for reference. I have a Kubota BX2380 with FEl, and I do have a box blade too.

Any suggestions? IMG_0095.jpg

Thanks in advance!IMG_0096.jpg

I would see about getting some material hauled in to fill in the cliff , Then you can spread it out level

Use your loader. It can dig!

Start on the uphill side and push down in straight cuts. Go back as far as you think is necessary to make a slope you like.

You have perfect layout to push downhill and practice using the loader. Enjoy!

I have dug out bigger drops using the FEL on my MT 125 (similar to your BX). I do have a tooth bar on my bucket. If you start on the high side, dig just a couple inches starting a few feet back, then dump it over the edge /low side. Just keep moving over across the length doing a little at a time. Don't go fast, little bits at a time. Once you get the hill filled in enough to drive over it, switch to the box blade and continue dragging soil from the high to the low spot. Definitely can be done, just not gonna happen in an hour.

I wold think a box blade with rippers would take that down even without the fel.

My concern would be operating the box blade safely with the drop being so steep.

:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Unless it is much steeper than the pics present this is the way I would do it...make down the hill passes first cutting the ridge and dropping the material on the way down...start further back with each pass until it can be traversed across the break...

remember to to keep the bucket low and take your time...

That looks like good project to sink your teeth into - literally. Digging/cutting into sod and roots requires a lot of traction. Attacking it with the full width of a straight cutting edge doesn't cut it (pun intended). A tooth bar greatly lessens the "attack area" of the bucket, and it's like having twice the horsepower and traction. I have also found a tooth bucket easier to work that gnarly mass of roots and sod. Companies like Titan and Piranha make good bolt on tooth bars for your bucket.

You can also use the scarifier teeth on your box blade to tear up this sod and either do the work, or make it manageable for your loader.

I think fill would be the best solution, but, if you don't have access to enough (acceptable) fill, then MS mt125 owner's suggestion is how I would do it.

...it's like having twice the horsepower and traction....
Gravity has the same effect
