I am new to the forums, but think I will end up using them a lot, it looks like a lot of good info.

I am looking at some tractors tomorrow and would like to get some opinion on the price points. It would be for occasional use to make the most of limited time I have available to maintain/get ahead of some rurual property - maintaining long gravel drive, drainage ditches, digging, moving stuff around, and some mowing. For reference, I am in mid-TN and have checked all local dealers within 100 miles and there are no used B or BX's on the lot. The absolute best new prices I have found are:
1. a BX25 with FEL and BH for 15,600 if I do not use their finance, add 1800 for the MMM.
2. A new-old-stock B7510HST with FEL, BH, MMM for 18,000, less 2300 to delete MMM.

The used ones I am considering an opinion on are:
1. A 2003 BX22, 672 hours, FEL, BH, MMM, scraper blade, box blade and disc, asking 12,500. (inside storage, cannot describe further)
2. A 2002 B7500 HST with 575 hours, FEL, 5' Box blade and 4' Bushhog asking 7950 (tarped outdoor storage, top of bucket bent downward from pics).

Used option 1 is attractive because of the complement of equipment. Any feedback would be appreciated. Also, on the new equipment, I do not have the active ag status and would have to pay 9.25-9.75% sales tax.

Thanks in advance

Being in Tn you are almost next door to Barlow's. I've bought 6 from them in 5 years. 3 of them last year. You probably won't have to pay sales tax buying in Ky for delivery out of state. You can look ontheir web site and see what they have in used inventory. Kubota is also offering 2% financing on used equipment bought from Kubota dealers. Steve or Grady can answer all your questions.

Well Creex,
1. My first question is, how did you get that B7500 w/o a BH in the mix. Do you not need one(BH)? If you think you may, definitely get one. The B7500 for $8000 w/o a BH will be $15000 with one later.
2. You seem to be tossed between the BX and the B-series. What's your property like? How much property are we talking about here? What do you plan to do?
3. I have 1 1/2 acres and the BX is perfect. Some guys feel comfortable with them up to 3-4 acres, any more I think you're looking at a B.

It really all depends on what your plans are. Take stock of what you want to do regularly and make sure the machine can handle it.

Fair question - The B would have more ground clearance and hydraulic power, which are never a bad thing, and would be as big as I would want to go in overall size. The BX is not necessarily lower in basic horsepower, and more maneuverable in closer quarters, as well as a hair easier to trailer if I want to use it for projects at my regular house.

The 7500 w/o BH is because if I can dicker that one down to 7-7.5K, I could add a new BH at local price for 5K or less, putting it at 12-12.5K

Have you used the generator much? What is your comment on it?

For what its worth I just sold my 2003 BX22 (575hrs) TLB and 60mmm for $11,000 and it was in mint condition. The BX like most of the K tractors are built like a tanks -with the added attatchments you listed any $ under $12K would be (IMHO) as really good deal.

After years of useage - the ground clearnance with the mmm attatched (ie when I wanted to go into the woods etc) was a issue and dont let anyone fool you - it is a real PIA taking the mmm on/off (despite the times when I hear its only a 5 min job) - attatching to the mid PTO is a royal PIA.

If you think ground clearance maybe important to you seriously look at the B's.

Thanks for all the feedback from everyone. I am in the process of finalizing my actions and will post a new thread detailing the whole path when all done. I checked out the tractors in the original post and of the two, I made a provisional offer on the BX22 package of 11,500 on Sunday. It was well maintained and I thought it was a fair price. The owner was out of town until tonight, Tuesday, and I wanted till tonight to mull it over. On Monday, I made contact with Barlow's on a BX23 and in condition, hours, and price, what they had was a no brainer and told the owner of the BX22 tonight. Should finalize details tomorrow with Barlow's and have it in a few days. I will follow up with all details as a general FYI.
