I am looking for a small 4 wheel drive tractor that I can use for spraying applications at my Christmas tree farm. Let me tell you how we plant so you will know what we are dealing with. We plant 6ft on centers. so our rows are 6ft wide in both directions. To add to the mix we are not on flat land, we are always on a incline.
I need a small tractor that will not be any wider than 42 inches, 4x4, and can handle a 40 gallon roller pump sprayer. I also need it to be gear drive so I can control ground speed and sprayer gpm. I have looked at the new Kubota stuff and I like the 2320 narrow but I don't need to spend 11k on a tractor to do this. I have seen a Kubota b1550 that was around 36 inches wide. Perfect except that it isn't for sale.
What size and model do you think will handle the hills, have the power, and be narrow enough for us?

6ft on centers, dosent that mean 6ft between rows? They way i read what you said is 12 feet between the trees, 6 foot to the left and right. Im sure you mean 6 foot rows why else would you need a 42" tractor.

The yanmar 1500 would be a great tractor you can buy one from a good dealer just the tractor for less than $3500 id imagine and get a 1 yr warrenty, look at spalding tractors and call him. This has plenty of power to run a sprayer and is gear driven and Hoye tracotor has all the parts you need. This is of couse you dont mind working on small things as its a 30 yr old tractor. You can prolly buy a used one for $2k or less as well. But back to the wrenching, you own a farm so im sure this will not be a problem, as farming is really not cost effective if you have to own all warrenty eq. or take everything in for repair that needs it.

Most tractors that are 42" wide might be in trouble quick with a 40 gallon sprayer on the Christmas tree farms I've been on. Some of the terrain is best covered with a backpack sprayer.

Just throwing this out there as a possibility, as I don't really know anything about Christmas tree farming. Would an ATV pulling a trailer mounted pump/sprayer be feasable?
