Need some help / advice with pintle hitch trailer for tractor

I just purchased a military trailer and plan to use it behind my tractor for such things as firewood, fence posts and wire, brush, etc. It has a Pintle type hitch. I want to be able to hook to my tractor via 3 pt rather than the belly bar so that I can raise and lower the trailer tongue to my desired height. Does anyone have any pics of a pintle type hitch on a 3 pt. adapter? thanks

My suggestion is a 3ph to 2inch receiver adapter. Like one similar to the one on the bottom of the TractorByNet home page and the hitch at Northern Tool.

Here is a couple of pics of the 3 pt trailer mover I built. I would get a pintle hitch with a 2" ball that would fit in a receiver hitch so you can move pintle hitch trailers and trailers with a 2" coupler. I have seen them at Harbor Freight and Tractor Supply. Not sure if they are made in the USA.

pharm vet, take a look at "build it yourself" winch calculations. Pg 3. I built a frame for using the 2inch reciever system. A simple fix for what you need. These have winches, but they don't have to be there if not needed. With the frame you can hang a few chainhooks on also.

I plan to add a 2" receiver tube to the top of my box-blade, and then use the pintle hitch from my truck.

If you are any good with a welder or know someone who is, you can make one pretty easily. I went to the junk yard and bought a reese style hitch off a truck for $10 and made one similar to those talked about above. The pintle hitch I bought used for $20. So total, I had about $30 plus my time.

Just a caution about using the 3 point hitch as a trailer hitch. There is no down force on the 3 point. If the trailer exerts an up force, the hitch will just lift. I think some people on here have attached a chain from the draw bar to get around this issue.

I load/design my trailers to be tonque heavy. I also raise my 3pth to unload the trailers. To hook up I just lower 3pth, back under ball then raise hitch and drive away, most times not even latching the hitch. Actually I mostly leave a 1 7/8 ball in my reciever no matter what size hitch is on the trailer. (maybe I will match the hitch to ball on a heavy load of logs, sand, etc)
If I had to get on and off to unhook a chain every time my old knees would give out in short order....
