Need parts

I am new to this forum. I have an 855 John Deere that needs a replacement rack and pinion gear set for the front (4 wheel drive) axle. I imagine these are going to be hard to find. I will be removing outer front wheel gears in order to use this tractor as a two wheel drive until I can fully restore the front axle.

Have you tried a JD dealer? Get a part number from them. Then start looking on-line if the dealer can't get it. Also check tractor salvage yards.

Actually, you can look up the part number through John Deer's site. Select your tractor, then drill down through the menu. https://partscatalog.deere.com/jdrc/navigation/equipment/73152
