need parts for an old John Deere manure spreader.... anyone know what model this is?

I bought an old John Deere manure spreader a couple years ago and it has done nothing but perform extremely well. I'm guessing the unit is 30+ years old and has wood sides. The auger on the rear of the spreader just came off the spindle and when hit the moving parts that break up the pieces of the dry manure.

Can anyone identify the model of the JD spreader I have and where I might be able to get some replacement parts.

Probably a H or a R. Post some pictures. On the side near the bottom corner at the front on the wood there should be a tag that has the model on it.

i thought i had added photos. let me try again. i believe its a model R. I need the auger part on the back of the tractor.

Sure looks like a R.
Mine is missing some parts of the auger. I am thinking of getting a shop with a plasma table to cut me out some paddles like on the newer style spreaders. They work much better then the augers.

As for replacement parts maybe try Brewers Salvage or have a machine shop fabricate the broken parts.

Looks like a model L , series 51 . Look between the tongue and the apron levers . Mine has the model # embossed in the sheet metal .

I couldn't find any replacement auger parts for my old manure spreader so I decided to make some paddles. I welded six pieces of L channel approximately 9 inches long at apposing angles onto the drum. I then cut pieces of rubber mat approximately 5 inches wide the width of the channel iron long and then bolted the pieces of rubber mat onto the welded L channel with another piece of L channel. I tried it out tonight and as the paddles are at a slight angle, an equal amount of material is kicked to each side of the spreader just like the auger did.
