HI, I have a beef cow operation in upstate NY and have been looking for a new loader tractor for a while now. From what I've read on the web the Kama 554 looks like a good choice, but I've never been able to locate one to look at. So I'd like you guys opinion on them or another choice. I'm looking for a tractor to move round bales (800lbs) summer and feed in the winter, additionally use would be for cleaning lots, moving wagons, general loader work. How do you like them? How fuel efficent are they? reliable? any problems etc..? I haven't ben able to find a dealer her in upstate NY, any ideas on that also would help. Thank you in advance, Jim

I have the same tractor - with one less cylinder; the KM454. It can do better everything my previous tractors could do - except turn in a smaller circle. But I use it primarily for mowing and towing and pasture maintenance; wide open spaces stuff. Sounds like you have more close quarters work in mind.

The smaller KAMA, the TS-354 might be more in line with your needs. High ground clearance, strong engine, good hydraulics. It can handle an 800 pound bale with ease, as well as a five foot bucket up front. Cheaper too, and much easier to maneuver in confined spaces..

hi Jake,
I have a KAMA 554 and I am loving it. It's a great working tractor and very handsome. I'm attaching a picture of it digging and moving dirt (my wife driving). Take a look at that cut it took and the size of the bucketful of dirt. That was before I added the toothbar. Now it diggs even better!

Plenty of power, no mechanical problems, starts right up every time. Very good on fuel consumption and easy to handle. (Fact...see my wife)

There's a dealer on this site that ships and services. you might want to PM bluechip to see what he can do for you. I think his company is ARTRAC. Check it out on the web.

Hey Jim,

Talk to Chip. I did and received exactly what I wanted and on time. The KM554 is a nice strong tractor. I got the quick disconnect (skid steer interface) on mine so I could change between bucket and forks as needed.

More Pics

Good Luck,
TR

Upstate NY covers a large area, depending on your interpretation! Some would say everything above Bear Mnt Bridge. Anyway, if you are close to Vestal NY (just west of Binghamton), there is a dealer there, where you should be able to "touch" a Kama. East Wind Tractors While their webpage only mentions DF BullDogs, the do sell Kama. Call ahead to make sure they have the model you want to look at. If it is everything you want, I'd still talk to Chip /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
