Need Oil Filter for Husqvarna

I have Husqvarna YTH24K8.
The part list shows oil filter 2505040

I need one in order to change the oil for the winter.. ?
I read that the K&N HP-1002 may work on my tractor but want to make sure and where to get a replacement

I checked Lowes, Home Depot, TSC..and didn't see one
Didn't check WalMart yet

That number is an old Kohler number. I would use the Kohler 5205002s , (1205001s is the shorty) but it is really the same size as the Briggs 492932s or 696854 if that is all you can find at the Depot.

Take it to NAPA, I would be surprised if they could not match it.

I can not take the filter to NAPA.. i did not take it off the mower yet and want to have one ready

Yes, should work. It's a bit more $ than some other compatible filters.

From looking at cross references, it appears that the oil filters for Briggs&Stratton, Kohler, and Kawasaki lawn mower engines are essentially the same, and interchangeable.

I looked at the current filter on the tractor that a service dept put on last year,,,it is longer than the one i purchased from lowes
it is a John Deere AM101207... so i am wondering if the one from lowes will work

Yes, it will work fine...just a bit shorter. These engines are not high performance.

My 26 horse Kohler Courage uses a Motorcraft 400s from Wallyworld. I have been using the 400s or its Puolater equivilent since the first oil change 900 and some odd hours ago.
Do some cross referencing and you can find a auto filter that will fit. A lot cheaper.

The spec should be about 7-9 pounds for the bypass release. An automotive type that will screw on will likely have a higher bypass pressure. Bypass is only important on cold starts or clogged filters.
