Need JD950 hydraulic expert. FEL to rockshaft?

I have a JD950(1984) TW drive, no PS, and no hydraulics other than the rockshaft. I have purchased a Koyker 160 FEL. All controls, and hydraulic lines were included up to quick connect connections on pressure and return lines. How do I connect in to the rockshaft block? Do I need additional hydraulic devices? How do I maintain rockshaft hydraulics, and get oil to the FEL? Help! I am apparently living in a hydraulic information Black Hole around here. Thanks.

Well you got me in the mood to start my project again. I was at my local JD dealer yesterday and tried to get the parts you need also. I could find no help there, as before 5 years ago. I know I called customer service and they explained to me a way of attaching the line to the two horizontal plugs in the front of the rockshaft housing. There is supposed to be a plug that cuts off the flow in between the plug bores in the housing. I cannot find the jd parts. The customer service number is 1-800-537-8233. Let me know if you hear any thing useful.

I called the 800 number this afternoon they gave the runaround after being on hold for 15minutes. I was told the dealer should be able to look up the parts I need to plumb in another valve...............

Can't you purchase a manual for the tractor, and follow the hydraulics from the manual? I did this on an older Deere, and checked it out by removing plugs and replacing them with a pressure gauge. I could then tell when (and if) there was pressure at the different "plugs" and lines.
I wouldn't think Deere would get too excited about giving information that may or may not be followed (or understood!) and then have someone blaming them for future failure, or potential liability. Its the way our sue-happy world is these days. And I don't like it any better. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I think the part that frustrates me the most, is that the dealer only want me to buy the JD valve kit for around $500.00. I do not want the kit the valve will not do what I want from it. The parts that are needed are in the kit..... but are able to be purchased seperately per JD's own tech. I did not get the p/n's when I spoke to him years ago. I am not familiar enough with hydraulics to know if the fittings are metric or sae. I never saw a metric tap for pipe work but maybe they snuck one or more in the yanmar powered beasts. I live about 15 minutes from the dealer where the machine was purchased, the next closest dealer is about an hour away. I hate to waste my time because the local dealer is trying to gouge me. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
