Need Help with Ford542 Square Baler

I am having a problem with my square baler. We believe it sheared a pin in the area where the PTO joins the fly wheel. What I am wondering if anyone has a diagram of this area. I am willing to dig around in there, but I would like to know what I am getting into before I start messing around. If anyone has a diagram or knows where I can find one I would be very happy. Thanks

You should be able to see it behind your flywheel. Should be a piece of metal that comes out a few inches and the shear bolt goes thru it and the flywheel. Not really a big deal. Ken Sweet

The New Holland parts site shows the 542 having a slip clutch behind the flywheel, not a shear pin. You can see it for yourself at

I have seen the clutch system, it isn't that. To get to the pin in the first reply, do I need to take the flywheel off?

No, I have never seen a square baler that required removing the flywheel to replace a shearpin. Ken Sweet
