I am planing on purchasing a 20' resiser 10,000 GVRW bumper pull trailer I spoke with the dealer and told him I would use it for hauling the tractor maybe 2 Times a month should I get a bigger trailer? Dealer says it will be fine. Tractor weighs 7,400 7,600 lbs please help pulling the trigger on Tuesday. it will be pulled behind a 2003 F350
5.4L SRW PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF I SHOULD GO BIGGER also what should I buy for binders and chain I have always used 5/16 grade 70 let me know if I should upgrade to 3/8

Thanks for your help

Your tractor will probably fit on a 20' trailer. 10K would be marginal figuring the trailer may weigh 2500 itself. Might want to look for a 12-14K trailer. 5/16" Gr 70 chain will be fine. The WLL of 5/16" is 4700 Lb. per chain. Use 2 in front and 2 in back. You can use ratchet or manual binders. You will also need to secure loader and BH bucket to trailer for tie down. Your F350 should have no problem hauling it around. You will need a trailer brake controller in the truck if you don't have one.

Get a PJ tilt deck #14000 trailer. Don't have to mess with ramps. I have one and it is so nice to pull.

Do you think I would be better off with the 18' 14,000 GVRW or the 20' with 10,400 GVRW

Thanks for your help

As I said before a 10K would be pushing the limit. 10,400 - 7600 = 2800. If the trailer weighs 2800 and if you figure in 1500 lb. for tongue weight then your max. load capacity on the trailer would be 9100 lb. which would be OK.
Check the tag on the trailer to see if the mfg specified a max load capacity. Some mfg. specify the maximum load on the tag which is different from the GVWR. If the 10K trailer tag has a maximum load capacity between 8500-9100 the mfg. has figured in that 10-15% of the load will be transferred to the tongue and towing vehicle.
The 18' would be fine but longer is better. 18' won't leave much room for carrying the tractor plus additional implements.

I just purchased a 14K tilt bed 20 foot trailer for my Kioti DK45 cab tractor. I figured the tractor is 15' long including loader. I usually only need trailer to move tractor and post hole digger when i use it for installing temp power systems for work. I may also be getting a loader mounted trencher this year. 20 foot was plenty long.

A 12,000 gvw trailer i was looking at only had a 9500# load capacity after deducting for trailer weight. That was too small of a margin for my tractor. For $300 more i am getting a 14,500 GVW trailer.

I was thinking about getting a gooseneck, but went with bumper pull because i will occasionally pull with wifes truck which has a shell on it. Im sick and tired of having to pop the shell off.

Also, about 80% of the trailers use will be in towing horse carriages to shows and events. and a golf cart.

I went with a 25 foot deck over gooseneck for my 4200 Deere, but I'm really not a fan of bumper pull trailers, I have a place to put my loader, on the neck over when I haul my ranger, got plenty of room to haul extra implements. But I also haul hay and other heavy items for the farm. And tractors on equipment on deck overs are easier to boom down, there just at the right height. I do have a utility trailer also. But a tilt would be nice! LUTT

I have a 20'bumper pull deckover that 'says' 9990 lbs, to keep it in a lower weight class. But it is built very heavy, overloading it doesn't bother me at all aside from fhe legal aspect. 16' flat, 4' dovetail. I haul my tractor with loader and brush hog fine, have had my ext cab 9' bed dually on it too. My F250 is what I tow it with, 7.3 diesel/6spd manual trans handles it fine.

I have a PJ 20' - 10k trailer. It has 15" E-rated tires, which are rated at 2800lbs (11200 combined). From what I understand, the 10k & 12k axles are the same. The difference is the tires. The 12k trailer uses 16" E-rated tires, which are rated at 3050lbs (12,200) combined.

I will be swapping in 16" tires at some point. Not because I want to add more weight to the trailer... but because I'd prefer to have more "wiggle room" in my tire capacity.

My trailer now weighs 2100lbs, so I can legally load just shy of 8000 on it. My tractor weighs somewhere around 6000. When I load it up, along with various implements ... I really can't "overload" the trailer because I simply can't fit enough on there to overload it (or at least, not by much).

I have an F250 crew SRW 4x4 v10. Rated at 12,500 conventional pull.

Hope this info helps.

Here's a photo tonight of my trailer loaded up. I've got my 84" box blade at the front (maybe 700 lbs?) And my 96" HD back blade (1000+ lbs?) hanging on the back of the tractor. As you can see, I don't really have room to add more weight to the trailer; The back blade is tucked right in at the ramps as it is.

FYI...
