I'm getting older and the arthritis/wear & tear in my joints, particularly shoulders, coupled with my stumpy, broad shoulders physique makes it a tough process getting off non-bib type overalls. I like the full cover overall as I tend to get my arms into grease and dirt. Walls, Dickie and Carhardtt are the big name overall manufacturers and none of their overalls have what I am needing in the easy to remove department.

Anyone here got suggestions as to maybe another manufacturer that has solved this problem? If not, has anyone here found a way to modify the one piece overall to make it easier to get off a stumpy, broad shouldered guy? Yes, I know ask my wife to help me pull the overall off is always a good idea, but she is away many afternoons caring for her 90 year old father.

Thanks for any suggestions you have.

Here's an idea: How about two vice grips attached by short chains/ropes to an immovable object (bench vice or workbench) at waist height.

Unzip and pull open the front of the coveralls, point your back toward the vice/workbench and clamp one vice grip to the wrist area of each coverall sleeve.

Next, lean forward and walk away from the bench vice. Hopefully your arms will come out of the sleeves as you walk forward (and the vicegrips hold the top half of the coveralls stationary).

KYERIK,
Awesome idea. I like it! Probably will use that technique in my garage.
Thanks,

You might want to check out a medical supply place for some aides that you can either buy or use as a pattern to use in fabricating

Ask the wife to sew some loops/straps in the end of the arms, so they don't stick out but so you can put your hand over like the end of a chair and hook it.

Was this idea on the Red Green show?:laughing::laughing::thumbsup: Somehow you gotta work some duct tape into this plan.

I recently saw a pair that zipped right down to the knee. I can't remember where, but a search should find them on the net. I need a pair too.

I agree that it does seem like something that Red Green would do. I've had to think outside the box and become really creative for the last 3 yrs (right leg was amputated above the knee). My tractors definitely look like Red Green modified them (hand levers crudely rigged to brake pedals) :)

I recently purchased two pairs of KEY brand coveralls from GEMPLERS that have the zip to the knee feature, they seem to be cut larger in the upper body, more then other brands that I have used in the past. The legs and arms had a lot of extra length so I had them shortened some and they are great. Much easier on and off with the extra room and the zippered legs.
