I recently purchased a slightly used Kubota BX1500 with FEL181 and mmm54" deck. It came with tractor tires. I'm very happy with the set-up but I am going to need a set of turf tires to use this thing this spring. Part of my property is on a hillside that can stay very soft and moist. So I'm looking for an affordable set of slightly used turf tires with wheels (mounted, that is) in good shape which will fit.

McMichaels (sp?) in Warrenton thought they had a set and wanted $100 for the set but they turned out to be the wrong size. Thanks for helping out on this.

There are 2 ways of looking at this.
The turfs may not get enough traction on that surface and spin out but the AGs may get better traction and not spin.
Something to keep in mind: A spinning Turf will probably do more ground damage than an AG that don't spin.
You may want to try the tractor out on those spots and see how it does before deciding on the turf tires.

From my experience they'll both spin and they'll both tear up the lawn. The Ags only provide better traction when they have something to dig into. A lawn isn't it.

If the experience with my little golf cart thingy (with ATV tires) is any indication, the Ag tires will tend to leave chevrons everywhere if the ground is anything but rock solid or smooshy turf mat. I can drive my turf tires anywhere and everywhere in all but the very wettest of conditions (think: totally saturated) and leave little/no evidence I have ever been there even if the tires spin.

It may be a bite on budget, but you may want to consider getting a new set of rims and tires with turfs mounted so you can swap if you need Ags for a particular application. I think a complete set of 4 new tires and rims is on the order of $500. I didn't figure a full set of brand new factory tires would be more than $300.

I have had applications where Ags would be helpful, but they are few and far between and in those particular situations I think Ags would have slipped as well so I never bothered.

1*Never considered that a problem with my BX23 even when operated with a full load of dirt or gravel in the FEL bucket and the MMM and BH attached,
This has to be far heavier than rzimm1s little ole BX1500.
I've had far more damage to my yard in five seconds of someone driving their car through my yard than 5 years of driving my little ole BXs around in my yard.
2*Or do like I did and get another BX1500 with turfs on it then just change back and forth between tractors.

Ummm...ya. OK. Sounds reasonable. Let's just call BUYING AN ENTIRE TRACTOR "The Backup Plan" to getting another set of tires.

Actually I suggested to my wife that I get snow tires for my Expedition. She, in turn, suggested that instead I buy another BRAND NEW EXPEDITION and have snow tires mounted on it so it is there, ready to rumble. Does my wife ROCK or WHAT!!!!

I love this. This is fun. I'm having fun.
