Need Agrafab 38" Sweeper User/Service Manual

An Agrafab 38" Lawn Sweeper came with the CC 1864 I got. Unlike the Tractor, the Agrafab was left outside for some 7 years, and it's in REALLY rough shape.

I'm trying to decide whether it's worth restoring or not.

It would help if I had user/service manuals for it. This is the only manual I didn't get with the bundle.

I checked the Agrafab site for PDF's, but didn't see any.

Anyone have a PDF of manuals for this?

I have a 42" Agri-Fab sweeper and could scan the little instruction book but it's not worth it as the things are very simple to use. When the wheels turn forward, the rotary sweeper broom should rotate, when in reverse the broom does not move. There is a knob that adjusts the height setting, and you attach the bag to the clips and hook it to the tractor and go- that's about it

These sell for less than $200 new, so it's probably not something worth putting a lot of time or money into restoring if it's in bad shape. In fact mine is getting ratty with 3 years of use and I might get another season or two from it but I would just put it out to the curb before putting any TLC into it.

Any grease/service points?

I see Lowes has the Agrafab 42 for $249. HD has the Brinley 42 for the same price. Is one any better than the other?

I have the Agri-Fab 30" and the owners manual says, "Best adjustment is when the brush setting is 1/2" down into the grass."

The MAINTENANCE section of the manual says:

"Lubricate the brush shaft bearing twice a year with a few drops of light weight oil." There is a drawing showing to oil the end of the brush shaft, but it's not very clear to me exactly where that is and I haven't done it yet on mine.

"Lubricate the wheel bearings once every season with a few drops of light weight oil." The drawing simply shows to remove the hub cap and oil the end of the axle.

"Every two years remove the wheels and clean the gears found inside the wheel housing. After cleaning, lubricate with an even coat of light grease." The drawing looks like you just pry off the hub cap, remove an "E" ring (snap ring) and a flat washer and slide the wheel off the axle. There's a gear on the inside of the wheel and on the end of the brush shaft.

I just got mine this year, haven't serviced it yet (probably should), and haven't used it much. In my opinion, it's not as good as a grass catcher or bagger, but sure beats a rake.

It couldn't be said any better!

The thing is easy to tow around, but like anything behind a tractor not so easy to back up with quickly. I found that for whatever reason mine will work better if instead of putting the clasp to the tractor hitch on the way it should be straddling the hitch, that if I put the whole U shaped clasp from the Agri-Fab all the way on top of my hitch it just seems to pick up better. With the clasp there and the height adjuster set to half way of its adjustment, I'm good to go. I have too many tight spots to be able to use a big vacuum type bagger, and I'm WAYYYYY to LAZY to rake

Cool, sounds simple enough. I'll just rip it all apart and oil everything that moves

The bag is liable to disentigrate the first time it gets a load in it, but it's worth a try before spending $250 on a new one.
