Need advice on Mott 48" Flail mowers PTO and powered units

Hello- I am curious if I can connect with the flail mower sections members? Sorry if this is the wrong area to post.

I searched for a long time to locate a 48" Mott flail to run behind my 1990 20hp Ford 1320 4x4. My ground is dry land field grass and I like the way the flail makes the grass look. Unfortunately when I bought the Flail I had to purchase several other items to make the deal. It was an all or nothing deal. The flail came with a parts 48" PTO Mott Flail and two Onan powered 48" Mott Flails. It also came with two Cub 154 lowboys with crawler gears and three point setups. One low boy has a snow blade. I am curious is anyone has a PDF so I can see if the powered flails share parts with the PTO units? I bought so much stuff I filled up the barn in one day. I posted some photos. My goal is to sell off the low boy cubs so that I only have the Mott flails and one tractor. This forum is full of experts so I welcome the advice. Thanks

Andy- I'm $2500 all in to get the lot to my house. My logic was that I've seen Low boys with creeper gears and three points sell for this much.

So I guessed I wouldn't get hurt. The low boys run but need new fluids, carb tune, and new batteries. They will be on the market soon. They take up a ton of room in my barn. I have all winter to tune and maintain the flails. Thanks

Oh yeah. Wife loves the collection of vintage trucks, flair mowers, and old tractors. She also loves the old Rokon motorcycles. If I bought a British car she would be so pleased. I have enough machines to upset a wife for 30 years. But yeah I did grab it because I wanted a vintage Flail Mott setup.

I finally got a tape measure and measured the PTO flails. Seller is and was super kind. He thought they were 4ft. They are in fact 5 ft PTO powered flails. The powered units are 4ft units. If I am using a 20 hp machine which of these flails would be a better unit to restore for regular use? Thanks

Lot depends on what and where you are cutting. I have a 6' Alamo flail and if I am cutting woody weeds 5' -6' tall mixed with tall grass and on steep hills I can hear our 50hp drop some RPMs and work a bit. If you are mowing flat land with low 4"-5" grasses you should not have any trouble at all with any of them.

Thanks Code 54. We live in dry land grass area. Grass is 5-8" tall. No weeds. I do have some hills but can catch most on the downward pass as it's a quarterly chore. Again thanks

Our Ford 1500(19 hp at the crank) ran a 5' caroni flail just fine. Only time I ran into trouble was *really* dry grass that would wrap around the shaft if you took a swath on too fast.
