Have a new 42 inch XT2 - seems like a good machine - but the ride is a little rough. Nice seat, sits good - so I am thinking of lowering the tire pressure to make the ride a little softer. I have a bad back and the hard bounces are not good for me. Any comments?

A guy I know from eating lunch at his store just bought a new zero turn last week. I asked how he liked it and he said it was great except that it rode rough and the tires were inflated to about twice what they should have been. He'd let some air out and seemed to be pleased with the ride.

I'd say go for it.

I only run 8 PSI in my zero turn to help the ride.
The suspension seat helps also.

I'm thinking 8psi was what his tires recommend and they they were originally inflated to about 16psi.

When I received my new Husqvarna riding mower the tires were inflated to twice the amount as what the Owners manual recommended.
I understand the added tire pressure is needed when shipping new machines.
Dealer prep. should of taken care of it though, because checking tire pressure is one of the items on the dealer prep list.
Which raises the question, did the dealer actually do a dealer prep., and how many other discrepancies might there be ?

My 61" Husky was set up at the dealer with ~15psi in the rears per sidewall & OM. (ouch ouch ouch etc ... &$#@*% moles) 12 psi was a bit stiff too so I went down to 10. That works best on the Dixon 4228, too.

8 psi would be my low limit as a two psi drop might have a tire slip off the rim, and if adding tubes they'll scrub/wear inside a tire at 6psi or so. (BTDT)

btw, first edition of raising the seat (I'm 6' 2") was with wood blocks and I'm thinking of re-working that to include more springs. (&$#@*% moles ...) Haven't had an L5 disc for decades and I have to sit up straight vs using the backrest when mowing. (Big help there.) Armrests came off the Husky after one mowing, and that helped me find the best posture for the job. (~2 ac)

Depends on what the pressure is at present whether I'd recommend lowering it. Personally, I run my Toro Timecutter SS3200 tires at the pressure recommended in the manual; 12 psi in the rear tires and 20 psi in the front caster wheels.

Solved it by reducing the tires to about 8lbs on all four. That is what I had in the old machine also (went out and gauged it). Not too worried about the specs - just in the comfort of the ride and ease on my back.
