Need a new PTO shaft.. need help finding correct one

Hello,

I'm looking for a new pto shaft for my brush hog. The u-joint went wobbly on me today when mowing, and created a lot of vibration. I know I could probably fix it up by replacing the u-joint. But this shaft is old, and the button at the end is missing, I've been rigging it up with a bolt that I made to make it work so it'll stay on the tractor's pto shaft. Also this pto shaft has no cover.. so I figure I'd be better off getting a new one. A quick google search I found this:

How do I know what size I need ? I'm not 100%, but I think I have the 1 3/8" 6 spline pto shaft. The mower gear box has a bolt holding the shaft on.. do I take that off and measure the ID/OD ?

Is this decent shaft ? Decent seller ? good price ?

What does the series number mean at the link ?

I have a IH model 284 gas powered.. 28 HP IIRC..

The 1 3/8 spline is universal. The other end is what you will need to know. It will probably be 1 3/8 round. Take your shaft off the cutter to measure. If so, you would order the shaft that has the 6 spline 1 3/8 on one end(female) and the 1 3/8 round (female) on the other end. Light duty. You may have to shorten the shaft. If so, both shafts will have to be cut. If the shaft you have is working, duplicate those lengths.

Thanks ! I think I got it figured out now... my mower end measured at 1 3/8".

I found one on ebay.. and I think I'm gonna order one with a slip clutch, maybe that'll help my u joints last longer. I do hit alot of big rocks.
