Need a large Extension spring that is discontinued

I was told that it is actually called a "swivel hook spring". They can make it for about $500. Hope my weld holds on the hook.......

you took the temper out of the spring by welding it, now, it has to be tempered again, else, it will just stretch, and stay that way..

What is "load" requirements of spring.... Might be easier to find "generic'" spring that meets load requirement then try to find nonexistent spring by physical size...

Your photo is too dark for me to determine what lower end of spring resembles but here's a spring I'm familiar with because I've bought several of them but it doesn't have a swivel hook. It fits on a JD rd baler bale push bar.

The spring part itself was actually fine. It was the swivel hook on the end that broke so I made a new hook from some round stock. Seems to be holding for now.

I have no idea on what load this spring is supposed to have. There is two of them on the chipper on either side that hold the feed rollers together. The tension of the swivel spring can be adjusted as well with a threaded rod that is connected to the machine and the other end to the spring. Both ends of the spring have swivels on them.

Interesting thought on the bailer. Going to check my fathers graveyard of equipment. He has some NH 273 bailers collecting dust. I remember some large springs on that.

Right now its on the back burner, but I will update this thread if I ever find anything that works.
