I injured a leg today messing with my box blade adjustment, but could have been a lot worse. Thought I would pass on what happened so others ould be more careful than I was.
I was not happy with how my box blade was leveling. I was getting five trenches as the back blade was not touching. So, I rasied the box blade off the ground and went around back to back out the top link in an attempt to bring the box blade to a more level angle.
Anyway, I backed it out too far and it came apart. In too short a time to react, the blade pivoted forward and clipped one of my legs with one of the teeth then continued to swing until stopping against the rear ag tires. I do not think that it broke the small bone in the leg, but it cut it and bruised it pretty good and is very swallon. Had my foot been a few inches further in, I am sure it would have gone right through the leg, breaking it, and leaving me pinned to the tire by myself out in the field.
Never again will I put myself between an implement and my tractor while making an adjustment and recommend others do the same.
