Howdy Ladies & Gents,

Long time lurker here but this is the first post.

A friend is going through a nasty and costly divorce.

He lost the farm but kept a tractor which he is willing to sell to me. Here's the deal:

JD 4510 - probably around 2002. I can't read the hour meter so I don't know how much use it's had. Runs great and everything works. Cosmetically a bit rough but nothing a little TLC won't fix. (I am mechanically fairly savvy, take care of my '96 Dodge 2500 Cummins :D, have lots of tools and live about 5 miles from a JD dealer.

It is a PowerReverser with MFWD and comes with a 460 loader and a Woods RD8400-2 mower.

We have about 10 acres - 3 ac grass, 2 ac corral for the ponies and the rest uncleared woods.

He will sell it to me for $10,000 with terms - $300/mo until paid; no interest.

I don't know much about tractor prices but I checked machinefinder and think this is a good deal.

I would appreciate any and all feedback/opinions.

TIA.

Happy Trails,
k9

Try www.tractorhouse.com for a price reference.

Having recently been in the market, and bought a similar sized used tractor, I think $10,000 is an excellent deal. Unless there's something seriously wrong with it, you should buy before the guy changes his mind.

Dude,

What's "fishy" about that? He's a good friend. I've known him for years. I asked him if he'd take 300 a month. He said "sure."

What's a "diviorce?"

LOL- I thought you'd welcome 'any and all opinions.' Or is it just opinions that match your own? :D

:re K9American--Your profile states that you own a JD4510. Are you buying another one or are you trying to sell the one you listed on your profile page that you own. In regards to the mispelling of DIVORCE, many of us members are tired at the end of the day, after our SEAT TIME, and perhaps- just perhaps--our hands are aching and our typing skills are not up to par. Food for thought?

There was no call for this.

If the man is going through a nasty and costly divorce, I must assume it's not over. Although he kept the tractor, he may not have legal ownership of it - yet. It's an asset (probably listed as such in some document) and therefore subject to possible lien (e.g., by (ex) wife or one of the lawyers).

bak,

You ( and LMan) are inferring I didn't appreciate Dude's thoughts. Not true. Seems he had questions so I gave him some background info.

I can see how you would assume that.

Thanks for all those kisses but we hardly even know each other. :)
