OK, I hate to ask this but I'm at a total loss. I have BX1500, bought it new 5 years ago. Didn't look for my paperwork but I guess it's a 2004/2005 model.

Short story, I was plowing a path of 3 feet of snow in our yard down to about 1 foot with my back blade this past winter. We have a hill on the side of our house down to the back yard. Down the hill was, obviously, easy. Getting back up the hill took a few tries (turf tires). Bunch of runs, tractor bouncing up and down, etc. Definately good for the tractor...

Anyway, come this spring I see a bolt laying in the yard, not on the hill, but closer to where I pull the tractor into the garage.

I look ALL OVER the tractor, put it up on jack stands, get the flashlight out, and can't even find a bolt that has a similar size or looking head as this one.

So...so much for the short story, anyone have any idea where this bolt belongs on BX1500? It has a 5/8" or 16mm head (closest I have anyway) and it's 1" long. It definately has marks on the head like a socket has been on it but it wouldn't have been mine...I don't think anyway. If it had been it would have been something to do with changing the fluids and all the fluids are fine.

Additional info. I was knocking down the 3 feet of snow so my son could ride his Mini Z snowmobile without it sinking. Now that's what a tractor is for.

Thank you for any help.

Check your tire bolts.

Looks like a frame bolt or a bolt for the Front grill guard.

Also looks a little like the bolts used to hold the hood side panels on. Sooner or later, you'll find where it goes, if it goes.

Allright...about all I can add...with the cadmium plating it LOOKS like it may have come off of your tractor...it is definitely metric and it has been torqued down really tight as the lockwasher has lost its spring...with the flatwasher being as thick and large a diameter as it is, it appears it was used in an area that needs the load spread out over a larger area...it does look like one of the hood hinge bolts, but I can't imagine that it would have needed to be as tight as it appears to have been...it has been removed and reinstalled post factory judging by the marks on the head of the bolt. Wish I could be of more help, but that's about it for me.

It looks like one of the floor pan bolts or the plastic holding bolts. Take the screen off and look at the bottom under the battery. There should be a bolt holding plastic in half. check the plastic flanges that hold radiator shroud to dashboard.

Sooner or later you might find it during one of your service maintance:thumbsup:

Thank you for all the responses and ideas and I just got back in from the garage checking all of them. Still can't figure out where it goes.

Only thing I haven't done yet is pull the plastic off the front end and look around in there. That will be next.

I have done some loader work and mowed twice now and nothing seems to be different. Doesn't run, shake, rattle any different than it always has.

msd mentioned "it has been torqued down really tight as the lockwasher has lost its spring...with the flatwasher being as thick and large a diameter as it is, it appears it was used in an area that needs the load spread out over a larger area". I was thinking the same and what bothers me about this is number one, for something that appears to have been torqued down so much how it could have come out in the first place and two, what the heck is about to fall off 'cause this bolt is missing.

Only two vehicles were on our yard this past winter, Mini Z snowmobile and the tractor. The tractor did have the LA181 loader on it at the time and had the back blade on it. Bolt is not from the backblade and after having looked at the loader I can't see anything on there where something may be missing.

If after pulling the plastic off the front I still can't find anything I guess I'll get the snowmobile out of storage and dig around it. Not much to those little snowmobiles though and this is a pretty large bolt.

Thanks again everyone and definately let me know if there are any other ideas.

Well, put that bolt in your number 1 drawer of your bolt box and wait. Just remember where you put it!!! One day, when you least expect it, Voila!!

Check the end of the crank shaft. Looks to me like one that would hold a pulley on a shaft. If thats it, put it back in with locktite.
