My weekend work

Did a little brush cutting on Saturday. The field is a powerline right-of-way of about 2ｽ-3 acres. I normally mow about 50% of it once or twice a season, but neglected it this year.
This field is rough and uneven, so it's pretty slow going. When it was graded for the powerline, they did it just good enough for the equipment. Lots of rocks...doing this earns the tractor it's keep.

I feel your pain. I'm clearing a few acres on my land and after the trees come out, and the holes for the stumps are filled, it's very, very rough driving to clean in up of branches. My ribs,stomach and sides are already stiff and sore after two days of it, and I'm dreading what it will take to get it all cleaned up before I can grade it with the dozer.

Is there anything that you can plant there that will cut down on the weeds? Bermuda does this once it's established by choking out most of the other plants. Of course, it does take awhile for it to get that thick. LOL

Any after pics?

Looks like you had a great time putting the tractor through it's paces Roy. It sure would be nice to see some "after pictures" to see if there is really a happy ending to the story!

Yes sir, Roy --- that looks like a pretty good workout! Would your 790 pull that 5 footer in 3rd gear thru that stuff?

The neighbor put their 23 yr. old Morgan down this past Sat. You probably aren't all that interested in the 6'x10'x6' hole I dug for the gravesite...

3rd gear???
I'd be on my side if I ran in 3rd. Too bouncy for third, IMHO. No use beating up the tractor (or me...got a herniated disk) since I'm not in any big hurry.
I'll put in an hour or so...maybe more, then break for a bit and back at it.
Most is 1st and some 2nd gear. Powerwise...yeah, the 790 could do it in 3rd...but that might be pushing it a bit.

Nice job! I have the same type of deal you have, a powerline right of way that needs to be cleaned up every now and then. Actually, the weeds and wildflowers in your 'before' pics are identical to what I have to look at. The trouble is that I don't have the RC yet... I only want to keep a path open from the road to a pond at the bottm of a hill (~.25m) so I don't have to walk through the stuff getting the dogs to the pond.

Roy, it appears you keep really good care of your equipment. I have a similar situation as you trying to restore an old farm that's been in the family for a hundred years and let go the past 30 years. Anyways lots of tree stump divots and rocks -- just getting to where it can be cut with rotary cutter. I have an old 5' Bush Hog for this area -- Bush Hog is really beat up after having hit many rocks.
Judging by your photos, your rig seems to have done a really nice job.
