I bought my 2017 Massey from a Kubota dealer who took it as a trade in but just wanted to turn and unload it. I cannot find out the original dealership where this tractor was purchased. Everything is fine with it, but I want to figure out what warranty might transfer to me, and I would like to have a friendly relationship with a dealer. The Kubota dealership is OK, but they care nothing about this little red thing.

I have a couple of Massey dealers about 50 miles from me, and I have called them both about service area, looking up the serial number, finding the original dealership, and advising me about any warranty in force for me. Neither have been much help. They can't seem to look up the serial number, don't have answers about what warranty will transfer, and do not even follow up on my need for a mid mount mower. I only have one key for it. Where can I get a second one? The engine has only 20 hours on it. Am I in their service area for a 50 hour service? And so on. My other tractor is a Kubota, and I am used to access to abundant information, etc.

I hear that the GC1700 series has a five year warranty for some of it (power train?). If that warranty is transferable, I then should be under warranty for two more years. But I can't seem to find clear answers. Can the serial number be looked up anywhere? Do I need to locate the original dealer? Is there a transfer process? Or is it all past and void?

Any of you folks know, or know how to find out?

So no manuals came with tractor? They should show warranty coverages. Dealer that took in on trade should know previous owners contact info for warranty start date and where it was purchased?

Contact Massey Ferguson corp. Go to their website and either use the chat fuction and have all the information you have on it i.e. serial number, model number and they can look up the original purchase date and tell you how much warranty is left and contact a dealer for you to use for maintenance.

I pursued this with the Kubota dealer where I bought it, for them to contact the previous owner and learn where he bought it. But either they tried and failed, or did not really try at all. What is odd to me is that no one at any of the three dealerships I have talked to seems to know the answer. Seems to me this would be both common and important. I don't get it.

I do have an owner's manual, but the only mentioned warranty I found is for emissions. And if there is a chat function on the Massey website, that is a good idea. I will pursue. Stay tuned.

I also want a second key. I guess I will use the chat box to ask about that as well.

Somebody commented a while back that the Massey GC 1700 series uses the same key as Kubota... Might take to K. dealer and stare and compare...

Believe I got a set of extra keys for Jacks Small Engines when I though I lost my keys... Actually found them after new keys arrived...

Yea, yesterday I ran by a former Massey dealer, who did have a couple of keys that fit my GC1715. Paid $7 each for them. Then I learned later that day that they are the same as the Kubota RTV900 keys, which, as you point out, can be found on Amazon for about $2 each. Oh well.

On the warranty front - I called AGCO Answers. A human answered right off. Told them my situation. They said the dealers can look up the serial number and locate warranty info. I told him I had already tried two dealers who said they can't. So he looked it up himself. He said he would get the warranty transferred. It is a five year warranty, at some level of bumper to bumper. I also learned that my tractor is a 2016, not 2017, but originally purchased in August of 2017. So I still have a year and a half of warranty.

Lesson is - don't let passive or willful ignorance put you off. Those warranties exist and are transferrable. Other lesson is - I don't know what to think of dealers. Has not been great so far.
